well the lovely little simple to change part apparently has to be purchased from a dealer and I'll have to replace the entire hose instead of just the elbow. which is only gonna be like $15 bucks..but then there's still the problem with the radiator. and I'm tired of putting momey into this pos.
so I'm looking for either...but my price range is below $10,000 so we're pretty much stuck with used.

I'm a spoiled brat...I have to have more features than that. I need power everthing, preferably with child window locks. I have friends that seem to enjoy playing with power windows. and I need plenty of cargo space.
Buying a new car is just seems dumb to me, it looses hundreds if not thousands of dollars in value when you drive off the lot - glad you are not going to do that.
I think VWs are the best cars out there. If taken care of they are as reliable as even the Toyotas and Hondas. They don't do well if neglected though. I'm very partial to the German produced VWs. The late 80's and early 90's GTI's, Jetta's, Cabriolet's, and Sciroccos are just awesome cars and were built to last. Even the TDI series (diesel) is a great option but I'm not sure what years are German produced and which ones where produced else where. The TDIs get about 50 mpg.
I know a great VW mechanic and he often has VWs for sale as well. I saw a nice looking GTI over there today.
well I have to actual intention of buying a new car. But as far as VW's go...I just don't really like the way they look. I can agree that they are good cars. one of my best friends used to have a Jetta but she had to trade it in for a wagon/suv when she moved to Denver cause it just didn't have enough space for what she needed.
I've just hit that point where I want a car that I like look-wise since I've had 4 that I hated.
I've always driven mazda proteges.... and i love them.
I bought mine at carmax, a 2000 model with poser everything, cd, whathaveyou, and it was around 9,000.
my last one was a 1992 with a million miles on it that i paid 3,000 for.... and it's still going strong! I just sold it to my dad so i could buy a new ride.
