Saving Numb3rs - The Fandom

Sep 03, 2010 19:36

Hey gang. I realize that this community has been quiet since we heard the crushing news that our favorite Fedcakes wouldn't be returning for a Season 7. But I see the community is still here and so I thought maybe I could post something to run an idea by you ( Read more... )

If 'save our fandom' = keeping the fandom going with anything fandom related... how about putting some of the aspects I posted in the 'proposal for a new N3 community' over here instead of creating a new one entirely?

The one thing that the responders seems to like -- without it stepping on toes of other communities (which I didn't know existed or such) would be the 'fic club'.

I think it would be up to the mod of this community but maybe using this as a fic club or some things you suggested here would be a great idea. We should talk to theorginalspy and get her thoughts since she's the maintainer of this place. I wasn't even sure I should post this! LOL.

First, I'd suggest a sort of pledge drive where existing fandom members could pledge on a quarterly basis to do any of the following to encourage new life in the fandom ( ... )

The tension has been there in some circles for over a year... and maybe some of that was the uncertainty in the show's fate. *shrugs* I've been trying to ignore it but I know a couple people have left because of it and I just want to do something to counteract.

I like all of your idea and I also think encouraging recs would be a good idea. I'm seeing more and more new names on the newsletter so maybe encouraging people to read by reccing and/or commenting on those posts so that new writers keep working would be a good idea. I know I've certainly grown as a writer because of the comments I've received over the years. It's really how you learn.

The question is how to get some of these things into action. Hmmmmm... it's tricky but I think it can be done.

I'm going to keep writing as long as people want to keep reading my work. As for the fandom as a whole I'm hoping the trouble makers have moved on to other places. A wiki is an interesting idea. I have no idea how to go about setting one up but it's an interesting idea. As for keeping the writing going I think we as a fandom need to imbrace and welcome every new person and I think it's important to keep the cheerleading on challenge coms going. There are also a lot of multi fandom coms like kink fest where we could give numb3rs a boost. Those are my thought off the top of my head.

I agree about the Wiki - there are Wiki pages for the characters and the show but I don't know how to incorporate more about fandom stuff or something. *ponders*

I just commented to Emma that we need to rec and comment to new writers and encoruage them to keep writing and sharing! I am REALLY guilty of reading a fic but not commenting. Bad Candi, no Colby... until after dinner. *looks around*

You've got all great ideas. Now, just trying to figure out how to set these in motion.

I also plan to keep writing as long as there are readers. I expect as time goes on however I may start writing more crossovers, but I want to include Numb3rs as much as I can.

My small contribution to the fandom.

As suggested above Crossovers are a GREAT way to get people to think about Numb3rs.

And I'm glad to hear you'll still be writing as long as people want to read. I'm in this for the long haul so I am hoping to spark some ideas and get things moving in an upward direction for the fandom so more people will read and participate. I have lofty goals, what can I say? :)

I have used M. Marchand's chat room to chat with the slashchat ladies on Sunday afternoons but didn't know there were still chats happening in the evenings! That sounds like fun! I think that's great information to have and to share ( ... )
