CHARACTERS: anyone DATE: September 27th (day 12) RATING: PG-13 or so. SUMMARY: The second mission is underway, where the source of the earthquakes can also be found.
[ooc: continued from this. Same posting order as before? (Richter, Morgana, Homura, Sayaka)]
[it doesn't take more than a few steps into the cave and out of the moonlight when it becomes apparent that this place was pitch black. Richter had been through ruins with very little light before, but this was definitely going to be a hassle...]
This is strange...
[he turns around to look at the girls- Goddess, when did he manage to pick up three of them?]
[Someone wanted light? There are a few whispered words, unintelligible to so few on the island, and there is light, a soft, but steady ball of it -- the colour of a cold flame, illuminating the cave?]
[Homura is, by necessity, careful with her magic. She could use her Gem to light the way, but she would prefer not to, would prefer to keep her abilities hidden as long as possible. So it is a relief to her, then, when Morgana uses her strange magic to push back the dark.
Morgana's abilities are varied. Homura will have to keep this in mind. But for now, she just follows along, a few steps behind.]
[Sayaka is also concerned with preserving her magic this time around, and her relief and impressed surprise at seeing the display of magic from this woman is more noticeable than Homura's.
She too is quiet, more out of nervousness and unease than anything else, and stays close to the group. But she does briefly address Morgana.] That's a lot better.
[a Photon spell? ... No, the quality of the light is different. He doesn't recognize the incantation either but leaves it for the time being. More pressing matters at hand after all.
There's a quiet 'hmph' of acknowledgment from Richter before a thought strikes him]
Do any of you have experience traveling through ruins or underground tunnels?
[The other girl, she spares a quick reassuring grin for, but keeping the light requires her concentration. It's not as effortless for her as it is for her sister.]
I have plenty of experience with the first, and some with the latter, sir.
[She also has experience dealing with such creatures as may be found in the latter, and how much easier it would be if they found an afanc.]
[Homura remains aloof, quiet. She does not give anything away if she can help it, but there is no reason for her not to answer this particular question.
Witch barriers, and the labyrinths therein, though difficult to navigate, are neither ruins nor underground tunnels. There is no need to bring up such things.
[Sayaka returns Morgana's smile, but she too is quiet and somber. This is a situation she's entirely unused to, but it helps her to have a focus, a designated task.]
Hmm... [It would have been nice to have a torch (keeping up spells for extended periods of time was exhausting regardless of what you are) but Richter could do a quick survey with what Morgana had provided. There are still tremors to be felt and heard but the tunnels looked stable]
Stay clear of the walls, watch your step and don't touch anything suspicious. ... I suppose we won't have to worry about the ceilings too much. [to Morgana;] How long can you keep that light?
[She continues to hang back, to observe the interactions between the others, as well as looking out for any danger. Homura is intrigued by Morgana's magic, though, and it occurs to her that, if they are to fight together, they should know what each other is capable of.]
[Sayaka obediently moves away from the walls. She is reminded, for a moment, of the times when she and Madoka would follow Mami in the witch barriers.
They had been very naive then, she realizes. And foolish. She studies the ground for a little while, but the question Homura asks Morgana makes her glance up, curious to hear the answer.]
[he raises an eyebrow at Morgana at the first response. Really? To do anything else would be careless.
But Richter backs off with the simple reassurance. So long as she wouldn't tire herself out... He had a few pineapples gels if there was any need for them, but the half-elf would like to save them for emergencies. Homura's question causes Richter to pause--
and then immediately look away, deeper into the tunnels. He'd like to continue on, but his curiosity would not be so easily stifled. An explanation for the strange mana signature? That would be nice]
[Spells, then. Not the type of magic Homura is familiar with outside of books and movies, but Morgana is from another world, one where these things may be commonplace. This is not of immediate concern, however, and she does not press about the nature of it.]
It is likely that we will encounter other creatures. It would be best if we know what we can do to fight them.
[She is unaccustomed to revealing her own power, and does not intend to show the truth of it, but she can display some. She reaches into the space behind her shield, pulls out a pistol.]
[Sayaka listens to this exchange without interjecting, but she does reach within her cape to draw a cutlass. Seeing Homura with a weapon brings to mind a very unpleasant memory, and she resists the urge to recoil at the sight.
She does get even quieter however, and her shoulders hunch beneath her cape. To Morgana, she asks:] If someone gets hurt, can you help?

I've never been in either.

[She nods to him.
It is the simplest of spells, as long as needed.

What other power do you have?

The visions are something else and something she has no intention of sharing as of yet.]
That would depend on what you required me to do. My repertoire of spells is very limited due to a lack of training. This one is the simplest for me.
[She hopes the answer appeases the quieter one. Morgana cannot determine if the girl is simply wary of the circumstances, or afraid.]
