With strange hauntings and trouble everywhere over the course of the last two 'days', Eliot avoided moving too far from his dorm except only to retrieve bare necessities. But two days in, a full week if he was on regular time, he had enough of canned salt and preservatives to take up a his hell may care attitude and went to get real food. He set out early morning and managed to get to his, he considered the place partially his anyway, greenhouse unmolested.

The same thing couldn't be said when he took the fresh vegetables and gathered eggs to the kitchen. The first thing he heard was shouting, loud shocked noises, and a roar of flames. "Shit!!"

Running in to find that beautiful stove top bursting in open fire, Eliot grabbed the nearest pot cover, a natural action given how familiar he became with this kitchen, and tried to smother it by throwing it on top.

It went out. Relieved enough, he didn't look to see the cause before rounding on the kid with an annoyed growl. "What do you think you're doin'?! Could've burnt the whole place

"I didn't do anything!"

The man's growl has Gau immediately defensive, and it also has one hand clenching, just short of reaching for a weapon. But he'd rather not reveal himself so quite yet, especially since Raikou is right there in the room to protect him if necessary.

"It's a ghost! Please get out of my way so I can COOK!"

"You didn't- The stove-" Eliot jabbed a finger towards the previously burnt stove where a large pot cover was covering a quarter of it, including Gau's eggs, that was amazingly spotlessly clean for having just been burnt. He scowled again when he saw the logic of what the kid said.

"Great," he grumbled, the word coming out more like a deep rumble than an actual word. "Here too."

He stepped aside for Gau to retrieve his food while he placed his own ingredients on the counter, eying the kitchen warily before shrugging. "Dunno if the ghost will care."

Well, obviously weapons weren't going to be necessary. Gau stepped back into the place before the stove, poked at the eggs to be sure that they were fit for Raikou to eat, and then took them up. He stepped back to eye the rice, decided it wasn't quite ready, and then stood leaning against the counter.

"I don't know, I've never had to deal with a kitchen ghost before. I just wanted to make my partner breakfast."

He shrugged a shoulder awkwardly, looked up at the man, feeling rather small beside him.

"You haven't seen it happen here before?"

"'Course not," Eliot scoffed. "This place was ghost free before the last few days." He couldn't say the whole island was given how strange things happen at night outside, but he would know if the kitchen was haunted.

"It's busy enough with people droppin' in, it'd be impossible-" his words were interrupted when another burst of ghostly flames came from the stoves, followed by a rattling of several of the hanging utensils. Eliot crossed his arms and glared at the items until the racket died down. "-to cook with a ghost here."

"Oh."

He didn't have his notebook with him, so Gau traced quick kanji on one hand with a finger of the other, a memory trick to remind himself to write the information down later. He gave the pot of rice another quick check, then stepped aside, out of the way so that the other man could use the stove, if he wished.

"I'm not used to having to deal with this many people just to make breakfast. Maybe I should come earlier next time. But I just got here... so... if the ghosts aren't a normal threat, is it usually safer than this?"

Eliot quirked up light grin, he liked the boy. Cooking in a strange place was hard enough, working around it while a poltergeist messed things up was worse.

"Oh? Yeah. Sides people comin' and goin', you just have your average dangers in a kitchen. Earlier might help." His grin widened in a friendly manner. "I'm here pretty early sometimes."

As he spoke, he casually opened a cupboard. Several knives were kept there in blocks where he had hidden away some of the knives to prevent the casual passerby from helping themselves to free weapons. As soon as the door was opened, one of the knives floated up and headed straight for his face. Quick reflexes allowed him to catch it by the handle even as he moved his head to dodge, and before the next knife could do the same, he slammed the cupboard door shut.

"I don't think this ghost likes me." He took the knife in his hand and slammed it an inch deep into the cutting board. The handle wavered several times like something was trying to pull it out before it finally stopped.

"I'll come before training rather than after next time then."

Gau blinked a little at the knife flying around, automatically reaching up as if to block any that might head his way. But they definitely seemed to be concentrating toward his companion, who seemed quite capable of handling himself.

"It would seem... not."

He raised an eyebrow, stepped back another step or two.

"I'm just going to grab that rice off the stove and then..."

Then he could get out of the way at least.

Eliot released a rumbling exhale in frustration. He had wanted to cook and relax a bit, but this ghost business seemed to want to interfere with that too.

"Don't think I can cook here," he muttered, looking towards the basket of fresh eggs and vegetables he brought.

He looked towards the mentioned foodstuff and motioned for the kid to get them. At least one of them will have proper breakfast.

"Wasn't this bad this mornin'?"

Gau slips past the man and grabs for the rice, then sets about making Raikou's plate, a small bowl of just rice set aside for himself. He casts his eyes toward where his partner is still seated at the table, and then shrugs his shoulders.

"Let me take this plate to my partner, and then I can make your breakfast, if you like. The ghost doesn't seem to mind my cooking that much?"

He likes cooking, after all.

Eliot scowled slightly at the offer, but he was secretly amused by it. He wasn't impressed that the ghost was forcing him to back off, but it was nice that the young man would cook for him. Sweet even, it somewhat made up for his own ban from the kitchen.

Glancing over the boy's shoulder reassured him that the lad really did know how to cook, unlike the disastrous attempts of burning the kitchen performed by his team.

"Sure, no point in lettin' everything go to waste." He turned and gave the quiet man with the flamboyant hair a curt nod. If it was alright with him.

Raikou didn't bother glancing up from the computer, nimble fingers tap-tap-tapping away across the keys. All he did do was smile and nod - for all intents and purposes perfectly emersed in what he was doing rather than paying them any mind.

Save for the fact that he had two kunai already loosened in their sheaths hidden in his armsleeve, just in case the man actually threatened Gau.

"No that's fine, Gau."

And then a smile as he continued mildly, "And when you're done with his, you can finish making your breakfast, alright?" Because honestly, did Gau really think Raikou would let him get away with only a bowl of rice?

"Of course, Raikou-san."

He'd simply been focused on making Raikou's breakfast, and then distracted by the ghost, of course. Well, that and his stomach felt a little strange, but he was pretty sure that was just nerves from the situation. But of course, he'd eat something else, if Raikou were going to use that tone on him.

"I'll make myself some eggs as soon as I'm done with this, Raikou-san."

Approval achieved, Eliot turned back to the boy and left the pink haired lad back to the computer although he never completely took his attention off that quiet presence. As before, he was aware but satisfied to leave the other predator in the room alone.

"What can you make with these?" Addressing the dark haired one again, Eliot grinned as he brought his ingredients to the stove side. As he unpacked, it was soon obvious that he brought way more than was required for one person's breakfast even for a man his size.

"I'm Eliot, by the way."

"Well."

Gau is immediately more distracted with the food than the man. He looks through the ingredients, then turns his gaze back to Eliot, as if sizing him up.

"If I were cooking someone in my style, I would probably saute the vegetables and cook the eggs separately. But this would be good for a Western-style omelet, as well. Or perhaps a quiche, but that takes longer than you probably want to wait for your breakfast. Omelet's don't take long at all, just a moment to soften the vegetables before you add them in..."

He seems quite caught up in the options, really. So it's only belatedly that he adds. "I'm Gau. Though I suppose you just heard that."

Eliot's grin only widened when he learned Gau was a multicultural cook as well. Rather than feel possessive about the kitchen, the ghost had him beat in that category anyway, he wouldn't mind sharing it with someone else who actually knew what the equipment in here were for.

"Anythin's fine," he answered, unable to help the hint of excitement creeping into his voice. "It'd be good that for once I'm not the only one makin' food decisions here. Made sautee vegetables just a few days ago." The idea of learning new dishes wasn't such a bad idea either. "How'd you make yours?"
