Thank you very much for translating this. I wasn't really interested initially but read it anyway because I like Aiba. And I'm now glad I did. I've been reading a lot of negativity about Arashi on tumblr and was feeling kind of sad for this 5 group of people who I love and am rooting for.
Reading Aiba state so plainly and simply how it is as members i.e. it is not simply a relationship as friends or lovers or whatever but mainly as people who has a lot of respect for each other and values each other as comrades who has faced lots of ups and downs together. That is so simple and heartwarming.
I have a lot of love and respect for them and will continue to love and respect and support this amazing group of people.

I don't use Tumblr other than to post links to my translations here so I don't know much about what's going on over there, but I just want to say that it's really best to ignore what's going on in the rest of fandom and focus on how you view and feel about the group yourself. If they make you really happy and you still like them, that's what's most important. It's been 12 years for me and still going strong, so I'm speaking from experience :)

Ah, I missed reading your translations. You always do it so thoughtfully, I feel like I'm hearing their thoughts the way they meant it.

This interview of Aiba's in particular sounds so very him. (Thanks to your translations, but also just in how he phrases things.) There's such an air of maturity about him now, yet he's never lost that openness that's so alluring and admirable. He's become such a fine person, and hearing his thoughts about various things now makes me really glad that I've been following him, and the other 4, all this time. They're imperfect, but such wonderful human beings.

Thank you again for this gem. I hope you are doing great! :)

Thanks! Life has kept me very busy with little time or energy to spare for things like translating. I was afraid I've gotten rusty so it's really nice to hear that people liked it since I try my best to make it sound as natural and close to the original as possible without being too literal. :)

That air of maturity you mentioned really struck me when I first read the interview. He's always been very honest in his interviews but there's definitely something different about him in recent years, so I wanted to share that with everyone else. I think it's about time fandom gets a bit of a mental update re: their set image of his persona as a silly boy with crazy antics. ;)
