Wait...did you just go from a completely psychological rant to a sociological rant??? Cause I'm pretty sure discrimination and racism, etc. are sociological viewpoints ( ... )

Hey it's Hogan - I'm finally replying to one of your journal entries! Hmmmm this entry seems like a summary of what we talked about a few weeks ago. Ok I see what you are saying here, and I agree with you to some extent but I’m not entirely convinced. I think people are given second chances, and given the same kind of situation again, they do make different decisions. Your theory sounds nice on paper, but in real life, how valid is it? I guess I am being influenced by a behaviorist point of view and looking more at how humans actually act rather than what theory says they should do. How could you prove that given the exact same situation different decisions absolutely could not be made ( ... )

haha I'm still on a roll with this... Once I think about these things I think about them for a while. I started thinking about first impressions. When we first meet people, we don’t know whether or not we like them. But we do know whether we have a positive or negative reaction to them. Maybe it is based on past experiences w/ a person that was similar to them. That is built into the unconscious, like a schema for ‘people I like’. So really, all new people in our life are being judged not by a clean slate, but against the internal cognitions and past experiences we have had w/ past people in our lives. If they are similar to an enemy we have had, then we have an unconscious negative experience against them, even if they are a totally different kind of person. I guess that is why first impressions are so harmful and deceiving, because you are not liking/disliking them for their personality, but for what kind of reaction you get.

That was way to much for me......but just live life! Don't try to make sense of things. Nothing in actuality ever makes sense. Trying to make sense of things will just stress u out and u'll never learn to just have fun. Just go with the flow on things and don't analize everything.

This posting and others also made me see that your not the type of person i thought u were. To me u always seemed like the care free person. Who liked being random, and just went with things. Where did that jake go? It doesn't make sense.....i feel that u totally did a 180. But instead of making sense of it i'm gonna leave it be. I still love ya no matter who u are.

Do u understand my point??? STOP THINKING! GO WITH IT
