Amen. There was an article in the New York Times, I believe, last spring about kids a few years younger than us who are the full-out products of this sort of "uniqueness" entitlement. And obviously they picked some real nutcases for effect, but it was kind of scary. And I think it's a lot harder to be empathetic when you have this from-birth belief that you are somehow Innately Different From And Somehow Better Than everyone else. I really don't think we can have enough empathy in the world. We certainly have more than enough entitlement.
