It's that time again: The Washington Post's Peep Show IV Winners have been posted!

This is, by far, the best use of Peeps known to man. (The second-best use involves bell jars and a vacuum pump.)

I think my favorites are probably the Masterpieces one, Super Peepio Bros, Terra Cotta Peeps, and the Korean War one.

Why does noone at my company seem to think that, when publishing a design document consisting primarily of UML diagrams, it might be a good idea to publish our UML tool's file along with the MS Word file that has (effectively) screencaps of the diagrams in the UML tool? It seems like such an obvious thing to me....

I have just finished using a pen to fill out a form...that's a printout...of an emailed PDF...that's a scanned document...that's a fax...whose original looks like it was created on a typewriter.

If I had somehow received this via text message or IM, I think that'd cover every major form of written communication except the printing press.

So, my brother made me aware of a 25th anniversary showing of WarGames last night. We went, because WarGames is awesome. So, Sunday morning the magic smoke escaped from my LCD. It was really pretty unspectacular - there was a sudden, quiet 'click', the image (and standby light) went away, and there was a very brief smell of burned electronics. So, one of my coworkers is working on upgrading the compiler we use, and the new one's a lot more strict than the previous one. He got the following warning produced:
