Hey, since the over-gowns were getting more like the under-gowns, it seems like a no-brainer that the one would inspire the other.
Layering and naughtiness! Short under-sleeves and waist seams created for the utilitarian needs of the under-dress get done up all fancy in fur and jewels on the clothing of saints!
What I keep picking at in my brain are the wide-laced front dresses that you see at the very end of the 15th in art, which resemble the clothing shown on young girls earlier. I keep thinking this might be something like 15th C. Lolita. :P
