LMAO! I just about sprayed my screen with Diet Coke on that one. *snicker* Would that make Rose Jack's quasi-stepmother? ;)

As amazing as the gun scene was, I think Gwen and Jack are heading towards more of a platonic relationship. The bit on the roof towards the end, where she rests her head on his shoulder and he rests his head on hers, always strikes me as more of a gesture of friendship than undying love.

I totally agree. Yes, there was UST in spades, but Jack could hump a pole and there'd be UST. ;) Besides, I think Jack needs a friend more than a lover. He can find one of those whenever he feels the urge, but a friend, someone who is interested in more than just the mystery surrounding him has obviously proved much rarer.

I agree. It's very much like a close brother/sister relationship. He's feeling very protective of her. (Or so the voices in my head are insisting.)

I think it's possible that Jack has been stuck in this time line for well over a hundred years - he is just so resigned! Also, he seems pretty dissatisfied in general, a lot harder - like he has been living with a bad situation for way too long.

I am pretty certain that Gwen/Owen is going to happen - poor Rhys! But I am happy that Jack won't be the home wrecker in that sordid affair....

I'm afraid you're right about Jack. As I said, he's much too resigned too what he's become and that scares me. :( But again, it sets up the parallel with the Doctor. Resigned to who and what he's become, even if he doesn't understand how it happened.

As far as the affair, I'm glad it won't be Jack, too. Besides, I think he wants to protect Gwen in a very tender sort of way. Protect the fact that she has a life outside of Torchwood, I mean. Granted, we don't know Ianto or Tosh's backstories (or Owen's for that matter, although I feel like we know him a bit better after this week) but it seems like they're all misfits or damaged in some way. Except Gwen. But I'm afraid that's going to fade fast after this week. :(

I agree. They're all damaged. It's very sad really. But I'm glad they have each other. And I see Jack as taking his role of Earth's first defense very seriously. He has so many inner issues going on, I just wanna hug him.

In summary:

TW = awesome.

Jack/Gwen (love) = blegh.

Jack/Gwen (buddies) = hooray!

Jack = very old. (But I think only been in the 21st Century for a few years)

Owen = teh cool.

Gwen/Owen = so gonna happen.

LOL! Pretty decent summary. I have to agree. Although poor Jack needs some love, too!!!!

Jack/Everyone else? = teh awesome. ;)

I don't ship Jack with anyone from Torchwood. He can sleep around - nail 'em all as far as I'm concerned, but I don't want to see him falling in love with people. Not until we know more about what's happened to him, or we've had some sort of resolution with him and Ten. (Damn, that was longer than the summary!)

LOL!!! I agree though. Resolution is definitely needed. Although, is it just me or do you get the vibe that Jack is a bit more subdued as far as his extra curricular activities? Granted, he's been a little in the background, so maybe that's why. But still, makes me wonder if he's gotten a bit bored with shagging everything that moves in all the years (bites nails thinking about how many) he's been around since the Game Station.

To me, Jack is a lot like Lex on Smallville. He seems to have chemistry with everything and everyone. So, they may be heading that way with Jack/Gwen but it just seems a bit too obvious and I just don't think Jack would go that way with her. I agree with the person above who said that the whole scene at the end was very platonic. It was a person who's pretty much been through everything comforting someone who's just been through something really bad.

I agree. In fact (and don't throw eggs for the comparison!) that scene at the end reminded me a lot of the Jack/Rose relationship. There was tons of chemistry between them, but in the end, they just had a lovely, affectionate, deep friendship. I really like the idea of RTD & Co. not going for the obvious with Gwen/Jack and keeping it platonic.
