I wonder how many people have died from hiding in the closet when his or her roommate was coming home, jumping out in front of the roommate, screaming, "Boo!" and then getting shot by that surprised roommate.  I bet it's a lot.  And I bet that some of these victims didn't even realize their roommates carried, or even owned, a gun in the first place ( Read more... )

I really like this new photo of Mars's moon, Phobos, taken a couple of weeks ago by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.  The nine-kilometer-wide crater, Stickney, on the right side of the photo is great.  Look at that sucker.  Youch!

At 9:30 this morning I woke up after a very late night of binge typing, and I had to get out of bed immediately.  The thing about being at the computer from early evening to early morning is that I go from drinking soda to water to tea, so at this point in the mid-morning, I really, really had to pee.
