No such thing as a free kitty... :(

So, Pippa has been working on the Most Expensive Pet Ever award.  About a month ago, she came down with a UTI.  No big deal, right?  We take her to the vet, they take a urine sample--lots of little bacteria in there and blood in the urine.  They send it off to the lab to figure out just which bacteria they are.  In the meantime, she gets Baytril--a ( Read more... )

Yeah, I will do so. She definitely does not like Clavamox, although was careful about the light exposure. I just threw out the half of the pill that was not used and went on to the next pill, so as not to give her any medicine that had lost its efficacy. :) Thanks for the input.

Since I am just about to go through this myself, as my kitty is a 20 year old who can barely eat and spends most of her time running about confused, yeah, it isn't a party when your pet's sick. *wonders morosely how much putting a cat down costs*

The thing is, Pippa is young and will get better, prob. just weird medication reactions. Vet bills though. Ugh.

Well, I'd think it was a medication reaction--but she's been off any medication for over a week when she had the latest episode. Hence, neurologist.

Sorry about your ancient kitty. She is a trooper.

Poor Pippa and her mom and mom's pocket book. Hope they figure this out cheaply.
*scritches* to kitty, *hugs* to mom.

Poor Pippa-baby! :( Really hope she feels better...

Just a thought for now, given that Pippa seems to absolutely abhor being given pills, I'd check into the option of either liquid form or something that can be crushed and put into moist food without losing effectiveness.

It's an employment of subterfuge, but it would certainly be less stressful for you and the kitty. Mi-kun was -far- more receptive to having his liquid Clavamox on squishy chow than to us trying to feed it to him.

Hee hee... she is even more ballistic with liquid meds. I could try to mix it with stuff, but... she is finicky. I will try, though, when opportunity next arises. Thanks for the good wishes. :)
