The First Flight [Action/Voice]

[He milled about the village casually, the clothes he had found himself in when he first arrived not fazing him in the least. The truly important suit was stashed away in the small tan backpack slung onto one shoulder, his hands never quite leaving the strap. He had gotten it without too much hassle, oddly enough in the weapon shop rather than the ( Read more... )

schway, would the real batman please stand up?, he found the suit but not his own pants?

[Yoru-sensei. A name he knew well. But a name he never once spoke of here in Luceti. That meant one thing. The person who addressed him knew certain facts. However, the mention of Tanaga-sensei was not something he had expected. Kiari Tanaga was Yoru-sensei's star pupil in more recent years, and he had saved her life from Kyodai Ken when he demanded the location of the scroll to learn Kiba no Houkou.

Several deductions ran through Batman's mind:

Foremost, this person either had intimate knowledge of, and most likely, was from his world. Second, they had enough knowledge to deduce that a student of Yoru's was here... and to know exactly who it was: Bruce Wayne. Batman. Only a handful of people in his world could draw that conclusion.

One name stood out in his mind most of all. Kyodai Ken. Though he was reasonably certain Kyodai had perished in the volcanic blast, Luceti had a nasty tendency to bring the dead back to life.

...But there was an important caveat. Kyodai would never refer to Tanaga as sensei, let alone ( ... )

[It was like clockwork. Seriously, set a timer and then you hear that light woosh and then he would show up before you even walked away from the damn thing. It was only out of sheer practice and training that Terry could even remotely pick it up. He looked into the shadows, straining his eyes as he kept the use of his cowl's enhancing functions to a minimum. There was that slight edge of a figure, but he could not be entirely sure.

It was then that it dawned on Terry: how the hell was he supposed to introduce himself...to Batman...in the shadows...and not get batarang'd or thrown from the building? He groaned inwardly. He had not thought that part of his cunning plan. Best first impressions were not made through combat, but Terry lacked both the tact and inclination towards making best first impressions. Slowly, he crept forward straight-on towards the figure, trying his best to remain just loud enough that only Bruce could pick up the faint whisper of movement.]

[And hear it he did. And from somewhere else, other than where Terry was looking, a voice seemed to come from the shadows.]

...Looking for someone?

[No movement.]

[Figures. Always with the theatrics...]

Maybe...you throwing your voice again or are you playing the game straight?

[He shifted around quietly, eyes raking over the shadows while keeping his guard up...especially on his left.]

[While Terry sits at the fountain a girl exits the smithy. She seems to be heading over to that fountain, but not quite on the same side as the boy. Her full attention is directed to a canvas bag that is slung over her shoulder. She seems to be fiddling around with it's contents, as both of her hands are in the bag. Following her is a black and white dog, with a metal prosthetic on its front left leg. The dog, here, doesn't seem to be much of a problem until Winry looks like she's going to bump into someone. In an attempt to stop this he steps in front of Winry hoping she'll stop. Instead the girl trips over the dog, and the contents of her bag spill onto the ground of the plaza.

Now here's what might interest Terry: the contents are a handful of batarang prototypes Winry had intended on transporting to her house for safe keeping. Instead she has transported them to the plaza ground for the public to see. Can someone say, "oops"?]

[The dog had caught his attention as the girl began to pass by. Dog with robot limbs...schway. Wonder if the mutt back home cou--ohcrapshe'sfalling. Terry was to his feet and on his way to help her when he saw the bags contents scattered out in front of her. Looking around quickly, he knelt down beside her and began to quickly scoop them back into the bag for her while seeming disinterested in them.]

Whoa, you okay there?

[She picks herself up, letting out a groan.] Yeah, I'm-

[And when she sees the few last scattered weapons on the ground Winry scrambles to throw them back into the bag while retrieving the canvas container. She holds it close to her and blurts out her next few words.] I'm fine! Thank you! Just an accident, I'm okay!

[A smile graced his face and he casually passed the last couple batarangs over.] Here, you dropped these. Sure you're okay?

[Diana is out on patrol around early evening. She catches sight of Terry before long, but she doesn't pay him too much mind. She might have never seen him around the village before, but that doesn't ring any alarms for her. Still, something about him was familiar... Diana finally decides to approach him, more than a little curious. In any case, he might be a New Feather and would require some help.]

Excuse me.

[Terry turned around only for his eyes to widen. Whoa...one of the founding members of the Justice League...right in front of him. Okay, you're a big boy, you've been with a Justice League before...] Oh. Um, uhhh, hi.

Hello. [Huh. She did not expect this reaction.] Do you need any assistance? I couldn't help but notice that you seem new.

[As it starts to get dark out, Kurt is skulking through town, as he often does. From rooftop to rooftop, sometimes he'll jump and land from one to another, or he'll just teleport into a puff of smoke and reappear on a distant one. He has no particular destination in mind, it's just his preferred method of patrolling town without drawing attention to himself. In fact, he's pretty darn good at blending in with the dark without even trying.]

[He was tucked away in an alcove with suit on and cowl in hand when he heard the first *bamf*.] The frak?

[Terry glanced about and quickly pulled the cowl over his head, letting the white eyes blink to life. It was getting dark, his element. But with this world, McGinnis knew he had no idea what else found the shadows to be home at night.]

[Kurt ultimately ends his journey, appearing on the top of building seven, crouching at the edge of the building to watch the plaza.]

[What is this guy, the Flash or something? Terry had been chasing after the sounds, following the smell of brimstone and sulphur and the remnants of blue and purple smoke clouds, when he saw the figure on the edge of the building. That crouched stance, that brooding look...Bruce?

The lights of the plaza distorted the form slightly, making it hard to discern whether Terry was looking at a prowler, a fellow mask vigilante of the night...or a randomly placed gargoyle. Well, nothing gained from flying around uselessly. He landed atop the building on the opposite side silently, letting the red wings fold back into the suit. As he slowly crept closer, Terry found it less likely that it was Batman and more than likely something...well, else.]

[ No better way to start settling into the lovely Luceti than by establishing some kind of daily routine. One typically involving getting to each store, just in case.

...Not to mention supplies would clearly be in order if he were supposed to live here for an extended period of time. And who is Alfred to deny the demands of common logic? Don't mind the butler armed with enough cleaning supplies to render a household invisible making the rounds today.

Actually, while he's out, he'll even stock up on a few doormats. Dirt is dirty. He would like it as far from his floors as possible. ]

[Terry was in the midst of a drink when he beheld a sight he had only seen in pictures and files. He half-choked and sputtered on the soda, thumping a fist against his chest to try and clear it.

I've got to meet him. I mean, he's THE Alfred, the man who patched up Bruce and the rest of the gang during the heyday.

Finally clearing his throat and getting the nerve up to approach the well-aged man, Terry noticed the large stock of cleaning supplies...and doormats. Whoa, he really does come prepared.]
Hey, need any help there, sir?

[ Gotham is the type of city where young men do not approach and offer to assist older men with their shopping. Unless they happen to be particularly intent on mugging that older man, of course.

Well, very possibly on Christmas, but that's neither here nor there. The fact that this is a different place entirely is taken into account, along with the fact that there's no money to be taken and that it's broad daylight. Alfred raises a suspicious eyebrow, but he'd be willing to dole out some benefit of the doubt. ]

If you don't mind the effort.

[A smile spread across his face.] Not at all. [Terry picked up some of the heavier parcels, taking in the full scope of the stock of cleaning materials. Geez, could pine-scent bomb the entire batcave with all this stuff. Shifting the bags on his arms, he held out a hand barely visible beneath a rug.] Name's Terry, Mr...?
