[Doctor Who Fic] "Strangers with Bow Ties" for rosalui

May 19, 2010 22:13

This was meant to go up yesterday, but sometimes trips to the pub stuff happens. :)

So, my first go at Eleven, who is really fun to write. Spoilers up through 5x07, "Amy's Choice" (but very very minor). Bigger spoilers for "The End of Time" and "Journey's End." In all, Eleven meets Martha. Or Martha meets Eleven. Pick your favorite.

Cracky combinations of food ahoy... )

fic - doctor who, tenth doctor, eleventh doctor, martha is still awesome, requests

Okay, now THAT is an explanation for the sudden shift of Martha's affections that I can buy. :-) Doesn't hurt that it's also a great read. Thanks for sharing! :-)

Originally it just began as Eleven eating weird things and making jokes to Martha and then I thought, "Hmmm, I can actually explain something!" And, as Prisoner Zero said in "The Eleventh Hour," the cracks have been there before and the Doctor hasn't noticed, it would be perfectly logical that it could effect older canon events. :)

And thank you for the lovely comments, as well. I'm glad you enjoyed!

Okay, I love that explanation of why Martha married Mickey. It's brilliant. Also, I hope to see more of this universe.

And if tomorrow is the 20th, happy birthday to both of us!

Yeah! A birthday buddy! Happy Birthday to both of us, indeed!

I think I need to know more about the cracks before I continue on (or I could just fly off into the fun land of conjecture, which is always tempting.) But it would work to have Eleven visiting Martha more often, if only because she is the only companion he can manage to visit from the entirety of his ninth and tenth incarnations (besides Mickey).

One day, Eleven is also going to have to save Sally Sparrow from her photo collection of weeping angels, too. :) But I'm glad you enjoyed! Have fun on your birthday. :)

Wow, I never thought of it like that! She really is the only one he can visit. Damn.

Have fun on your birthday as well!

That was brilliant. I loved the Mickey explanation and your Eleven was just so perfectly himself. Loved Martha in this too :)

I unabashedly love writing Eleven. He's just...fun. And I've always admired Martha's maturity and ability to deal with everyone around her in such a graceful manner...(Although my beta did re-name this "Strangers with Bow Ties [Who Are Creepy Stalkers and Need to be Stabbed with Steak Knives]" :D).

But thank you for the lovely comments! I'm glad you enjoyed. ^_^

Weren't the photos of the weeping angels in the folder Sally gave Ten?

That would be where the whole thing gets a bit dicey. I suppose you could argue she had doubles of the photos printed (that's what I always do, at any rate) or didn't give all of them to Ten. Or the weeping angels should be puttering about the TARDIS somewhere.

OR, there is a missing scene and he did some Time Lord magic to neutralize the photos so they didn't become angels.

Ah, the magic of fan fiction and the can of worms it represents.

I love the idea of Eleven messing up and coming before Ten's said goodbye. And that's an intriguing explanation for Martha and Mickey being together.

I toyed with keeping the timeline linear but didn't because a) the Doctor is a terrible pilot and b) when Ten's goodbye comes that just adds so many extra layers of meaning for Martha because she knows unequivocally what it is.

And if cracks can eat giant steampunk cybermen, then they can eat Tom Milligan, too. (A pity! I liked Tom!).

But thank you for your comment!

Tom was okay, I guess - I never really felt that I knew him. At least I know Mickey well...

The Doctor's never been that brilliant at steering the TARDIS so it makes sense he messed up!
