Wow, that looks so pretty! I have watched too many episodes of Banged up Abroad with Filipino rebels kidnapping tourists and now have an unreasonable fear of the Philippines! hahaha

Yeah, that has crossed my mind but the area we are going to is considered safe (kinda like the Bali of Indonesia). I've checked the smart traveller website and it says to exercise a high degree of caution, but not reconsider the need for travel.

Yeah I know it's irrational, we went to that little dive island in Malaysia when the dive islands off the east coast of Sabah are "Reconsider your need to travel" because of kidnappings... although the reason I had no issue there was the permanent military presence on the island. I was still a bit freaked though, especially on the 1 hour each way speedboat ride to and from the island! I shouldn't watch those shows hahaha
