I'm sorry to read about your cat. My mom's Great Dane, Ramsey, had to be put down shortly after Mother's Day. While he was really my parents' dog, I considered him mine too because I lived with him for most of his life before I moved out of the house for good.
I was in California visiting my dad when I got the bad news. It didn't really hit me though until I went home to visit my mom two weeks ago and he wasn't in the house. He had his own designated couch he slept on in the living room. My parents' haven't removed it yet, or can't bring themselves to do it now. When you walk past it, you can still smell the dog. Seeing the empty couch virtually untouched since the day Ramsey died brought tears to my eyes.
It's always hard losing a pet, they become part of your family and you love them almost as much as a family member.
