Long Weekend

It's a good thing that the weekend was long!  Lots going on, but also time to rest.  Whew!

Friday start with a trip to Weiser to pick up some new to me dining room chairs.  I had some second hand ones that didn't really match the pretty table my aunt made me.  I found these and thought they matched nicely!  I got all four for $50, so a steal of a ( Read more... )

I think your training days should count extra because you have to load up sheep in a trailer, drive somewhere, have one dog set out the sheep, drive somewhere else (I think so that Rooster doesn't know where the sheep are), send Rooster out to get them and repeat. Then load 'em back up to bring them home eventually. All I do is grab exercises from my many training resources, open the fridge to get treats and walk across the yard to the agility field. OK, I do have to move equipment and mow on some days , but I have it EASY!

I was watching the first outrun video and the Gordon Girls were resting nearby -- until the first whistle! Then they all ran outside and checked for intruders and barked. I will need to remember to turn the volume waaaaay down when I watch your videos. Rooster looks magnificent as he runs out to look for his sheep. Good luck at your trials this coming weekend. And hugs to Beep and all.

Loading the sheep is like putting the sheep in a pen at a trial, so good practical experience. It's 8 miles out to the sheep, and less than a mile hauling sheep, so not to bad. I only unload once, then use both Poppet and Rooster to move sheep around. I think we average about an hour and a half, two hours working sheep, swimming and walking when we combine all activities. If I had sheep at home we'd be limited as to where we could work because there are cows at home now, so I'll drive to get more varied experience.

Beep gets jacked up by the whistle too! He whines and barks. :) Thanks for the luck!

I am very jealous of your pond to swim the dogs in and the places you can haul sheep to for working! That is all. :-)

PS - I am very happy for you though!
