Woo wee it's been HOT!  Yesterday it was 103 degrees.  Yikes!  Someone turn the heat down!  To beat the heat I took the dogs down to the Weiser River, which is about 3-4 miles from my house.  I had on some light weight athletic capris and some old tennis shoes so that I could wade with them.  Come to find out, there's a lot that has 2-3 inch rocks ( Read more... )

I have been loving the 4-H stories, it brings back such fun memories. And, nicely done on working on those long outruns! I am assuming you get new work sheep now? Beckit is so adorable, swoon! You know how much I love those smooth, black tri BCs! It will be interesting to see how she turns out.

Did you do 4-H growing up? It was fun seeing how far he would go! We will be getting new lambs that have been worked by dogs on the 17th. It's been nice to have the break, especially because of the heat, but I'm ready to get back at it!

Beckit is so wee! It will be interesting to see how she turns out. Do you recognize any of the breeding? I contacted Hope about Charm and she said she and a brother were willing to take cows down at 6 months old. So, very strong! Yikes! I've also found out that Cody, on mom's side, won Nursery Cattle finals. Lot's of cow, rather than sheep in this one. Jennifer Coleman's Emma is a full sister to Walter.

Yes, I started in 4-H at William's age, before I was old enough for "official" 4-H and continued until I graduated from high school. All my siblings were in 4-H. I showed sheep, horses, pigs, dogs and did cooking/baking too. We went to 4-H camp every year too as my Mom was camp nurse. Our county extension agent who was in charge of 4-H wrote recommendation letters for me and I think I got a small scholarship from 4-H for college. Good times and great memories!

I recognize some sheepdog names way back in Jade's pedigree and of course in Mac's pedigree. Lots of cow dogs are also good on sheep. Time will tell!

That's awesome that you did so much in 4-H! I just did horses and had a great time doing it. I also have fond memories. Now I get to make more memories through grandkids.

Time will tell. So far, she's a fun puppy:)
