The first weekend of dogs and sheep was a Kathy Knox clinic.  It started with Heather, Navarre and Asher arriving on Friday.  We went out and saw the ranch and played with sheep.  Asher wasn't quite sure what to do with the sheep.  Rooster and Beckit had a good time.  We then cruised up Hell's Canyon and enjoyed the views.   I had my 3rd graders do ( Read more... )

Yay! Sounds like your Open debut went well! So nice to have that under your belt. The longer drive on the first day of the Catbird trial was because we had three drive panels instead of two, so four legs to the drive. The other two courses were mostly typical, other than a dog leg fetch the second day. Oh, and the hills, always very challenging with the hills and range ewes. Have a great time at Trailing!

It did go well! For some odd reason I thought it'd be a 600 yard drive away. Ha! Sounds like a fun and challenging trial! Can't wait to hear about it!

Sounds like a great trial. Congratulations. It’s interesting to hear perspectives on something that is normal life for you. That ranching lifestyle has always been fascinating to me.

Thanks! I love the ranching/farming lifestyle. It's something I grew up with and kind of take it for granted sometimes. It makes me sad that so many "city" people have no clue what really goes on in the industry. I think that ranching/farming gets a bad rap from some of the media and when you read comments from some stories, it's really apparent just how little people know. One comment comes to mind about wolves and livestock. A lady commented that ranchers should just go buy their beef in the store like everyone else. Where does she think it comes from!?!?
