[at some point in her day tonks has to wander by a restaurant or cafe, one with seats outside. and when she does:]

Troubled?

[a woman with red hair and white cloak sits at a table, closest to the street than the others. there aren't many others outside, either, so it should be obvious who she speaks to. (but then, a random woman talking to you as you walk by can be rather confusing!) she smiles, and it is a mixture of amusement and knowing something tonks doesn't.]

[Tonks does indeed wonder past a cafe. She has too much on her mind to think about food, however.]

Are you talking to me?

[She stops and turns around to face the redhead. Tonks is blissfully unaware anything Shirley's expression may mean.]

It's either you or that large man near the window.

[indeed, there is a very rotund man sitting outside, too. luckily, he seems rather unaware of the two women. his book must be very interesting!]

[Tonks turns her head and looks at the man reading a book and then turns her head to look at Shirley again.]

You don't seem the type to interrupt someone who's reading. Or maybe you would. I don't know. I wouldn't say that I was troubled, just a little bit perplexed. Lost might be more accurate.

[She realizes that she's starting to ramble. Tonks smiles and straightens a bit.]

[really, it depends on who the person is. shirley is only courteous when it suits her.]

Within the city?

[or emotionally?]

Yeah. I'm new, I guess you could say that. I'm not really used to all this.

[She gestures to the city around her. It was a little emotional for her as well. Tonks isn't in the habit of being almost frightened by who she considers a friend.]

Your device has a map.

[she refers to the forge, of course.

a waiter sets two cups on the table, both tea, and as politely he came, he leaves. shirley motions for the other woman to sit.]

It does? I'm not used to little devices like this. Honestly, with me, it's a wonder that I haven't broke it yet.

[Tonks sits down and then takes out her forge. She looks it over before looking back at Shirley. If she were to think, she might think that Shirley had been expecting her. Tonks hadn't seen her order.]

I hate to be a bother but d'you think you could show me how that works? I'm Tonks, by the way.

[perhaps she was! or perhaps she order with two in mind for whatever poor soul walked by and caught her attention. it's a little hard to say, and shirley won't tell the truth, either way. alas. but she is helpful!]

Shirley. - I'm afraid I am not the best with technology, but I can show you what I do know. Do you know how to use its different functions?

Yeah. I figured out how to use the video, voice and text settings. I'm not sure why people'd want to use that setting though, seems like it'd be hard on the thumbs.

I hadn't thought of that before.

[shirley uses the video function nearly all the time, and if it's not video, then it's voice in order to be a little difficult with whoever she may be speaking to. she almost holds her hands in front of herself to mimicking texting out of curiosity but instead, reaches over and taps tonks's forge.]

That will make your conversation private.

I thought about it while I was testing it out. I used my thumbs an awful lot while trying to type something out. I'm not a fan of that method. Who has the time to ice down their thumbs after?

[Tonks will probably keep to video herself. She may use the voice function from time to time, especially after she finds out that her aunt is in Anatole.

She watches what Shirley does. Tonks is a bit fascinated by the Forge. It seems much more convenient than sending an Owl or sticking your head into a fireplace.]

And no one at all can see what you send? That's handy.

Quite. And - [more tapping!] This gives you the map.

Oh, oh, that is brilliant. Can it do anything else?

Yes, but I am not certain how.

[such as games! she doesn't understand how a game can be on a forge, but she accepts it well enough.]

One thing it does, and is out of your control, is opening your dreams and memories to others.

Well, I suppose I'll figure it out soon enough. Trial and error yeah?

[For a moment,Tonks' eyes go a big bug-eyed in her skull.]

How often does it do this?
