[ shirley stands with her back to roxas, as she brightens a lamp on the wall. how long has she been there? hard to say - she's visited roxas's room often, and normally, her breaks for reading take place elsewhere; since his coma, she's been reading next to his bed. ]

[He would be grateful if he was aware of Shirley's presence throughout his sleep, but seeing her now is slightly disconcerting. Not that he's feeling anything other than sleepy when he sits up to look at her.]

Yeah... [He pauses to consider how dark the room is in comparison to the lamp.] Guess I should say 'good evening' then.

[ and let there be light! she turns to face him, smiling. ]

[He smiles back as he moves to sit on the edge of the bed.]

Think so, but I feel like I've been sleeping forever.

[ amused noise. ]

You slept only ten days.

Really? Got off easy then.

[Yawning, he stretches his arms as he glances around once more.]

What did I miss?

[ clasping her hands before her body. ]

An invasion of Red Elves but little else.

...Are Red Elves bad? What happened? [Cuz he only equates the word 'invasion' as bad.]

[ shakes her head. her automatic instinct is tell him the elves are who they are and to never allow hatred to cloud his judgment, but it's not necessary yet. ]

They kidnapped many and murdered several, but they were driven back into the Mist. They left the message, "we are not the only ones."

[His hands visibly grip the mattress, and he's quiet for a moment with wide eyes.]

Hinamori...is she okay? Did they get anyone we know?

She is well. Those that were taken have returned.

[He's just going to assume she means alive. Because he's dense like that.]

...That's good...

[He still doesn't look very happy that he wasn't there to help.]

[ for a moment, there is silence. then, shirley steps closer, and her expression is firmer. ]

I do not know if it was for the best or if it was for the worst you did not fight.

[ the fight against the elves revealed an ugly side of the scorched, and shirley is so disgusted, she wants little to do with most. ]

[He's not exactly sure how to determine her expression, but the statement itself doesn't seem good.]

...What do you mean?

[The ever-curious expression is back although more reluctant.]

Many Scorched demonstrated a different side of themselves during the battle with the elves.
