My school works on the weirdest schedule ever - we have roughly 9 week-long terms followed by a week without students. i am not sure i can say anything that can help. do not go to visit if it is hard for you. you have to take care of yourself first and foremost. i belong to a community for parents of special needs kids, that i love, there is a sister community called aspecialsupport for educators, siblings and other caregivers of special needs kids. it might be a good place for you to talk to others.

Saying anything is a help! Especially for someone like me, raised WASP and still WASP most of the time; you want repression of emotional expression? I'm your gal - thank god for the Love Object poking me to express my feelings or I'd probably have blown up by now.

Thank you.

it amazes me the people who dedicate their lives to helping our children. i can take care of ryder but i do not have the patience to deal with other childrens parents. i want and need to save them all and knowing that i can't doesn't make the reality of it any easier.

I also started this up in my mid-40's...only finished my BA in 2004 (look at my screen name and do the math - you'll know how old I am). I spent about 15 years being detached from life generally in a lot of ways and while this job is sometimes a whole lot of hurt it's mostly great and it's great to think of myself as a patient, caring person - words I would never ever have applied to myself in other phases of my life ( ... )
