Question of the day...

Jan 12, 2005 10:33

This one is for the dance music fans out there...

Why are most house fans (deep, funky, tech whatever) usually total snobs when it comes to other forms of electronic dance music...

Any theories? Any house heads out there wanna chime in on why (or why not) you hate trance, techno, DnB etc...

It's because house music has subliminal satanic messages embedded in it. The messages tell people that all other electronic music is evil, and if they listen to it, they'll have to eat their young and habitually sacrifice small animals.

No, seriously, I don't know. *Shrug*

The only ones I've known who are snobby about house music know NOTHING when it comes to non-electronic music (ya know, the kind that uses instruments other than a computer keyboad and speakers). I suppose when you have such a narrow spectrum of musical knowledge, being pretentious about something allows you to pretend you're a musical elite.

I studied jazz sax my first couple years of college, and the most stuck up jazz snobs in the program couldn't name a single classical composer other than beethoven and bach.

Just my 387594 cents.

well, i never even bothered learning what the different labels defined. i just know certain types, like techno or DnB are easier for me to dance to, and that makes me a little more snobby in regards to the other kinds. whatever they are.

music snobs? never.

that reminds me of this: pyroteknikon: Oakenfold is, peerless, bar none. To deny this is folly, worthy of instant death.

it makes me laugh to think there are other people like that in the world.

i know what you said, which is why i made a point of telling you what HE said because i figured it'd amuse you.

to each their own...precisely. no one is right; that's impossible.

i do like the way he phrased that post, though.
