Well done, truly. I would love to have an iota of your courage because I am being a total wuss about telling someone I want to move out of our flat, which IDEK. I'm an idiot, you're amazing.
Funny story: when I was 17, my gay male friend of mine stayed over. My mother wouldn't let us share a bedroom despite the fact that we would have been in seperate beds. She knew he was gay. But my sister was never allowed to have a boy stay over, nor my brother a girl, so mum kept the rule alive and he stayed in another room. I have to say, I respected the decision. Even though: duh.
Well, what you're doing is different cause your saying something like "i'm not enjoying it here" and the person will prolly take it personally, whereas you can't really take "i like boys" personally, can you? I would not call you an idiot. You're British! Intelligence is in your BLOOD.
Ha, my mom just said flat-out "no" when I asked if a gay girl friend of mine could stay the night. She drove her home at 1:30 in the morning, though, so props.
I am going to leave ze facebook status blank, though, because I'm unsure if straight guys would feel comfortable rooming with a gay guy for 10 days. Would you, straight people, feel comfortable rooming with someone who's gay or lesbian? Would you have at 16/17?
At 16/17, yes. A good amount of my friends were bi or lesbian at the point, though, some guys are dumb at that age, so I dunno. *won't go on because she'll just be sexist, >>;;*
I can imagine that would be pretty draining, but way to go! *hug*

Yeah, I'd be fine with it.
At 16/17 I was the self-conscious type who would've changed clothes in the bathroom regardless of anyone else's sexual orientation, so I don't think I would've had any practical reason to be uncomfortable with it. I've roomed with straight, bi and lesbian friends at various times, including when I was a teen, and I don't recall it ever having been an issue.
I think it often just really depends on the people and whatever your friendships with them are like. I will say that I think it's impossible for a group of teens to go on long trip together without having some drama, I just never observed any "omg she's a lesbian!" drama. But if you know who you're rooming with, then hopefully you can judge whether or not they'd be okay with it.
