Last night at around 5-6am Bank St went crazy! There were cops EVERYWHERE, racing around the streets. I think there was some kind of explosion or gun shots or something further down Bank, maybe around Barrymore's or past, and people were freaking out.

Anyone know what happened? I haven't been able to find any news coverage about it.

A shooting would have been mentioned I think. Perhaps it was something they have yet to figure out but are still 'chasing'? Drug runner, an escapee, etc.

Did they have guns out or just flashlights?

No flashlights.. it was light out. The cops stayed in their cars from where I was watching.. but i think the action was further down so they were probably getting out there.

I'm pretty sure it was gun shots or an explosion.

in that neighborhood there's so much shit that goes on it's hard to tell what happened. although a shooting would not surprise me in the least. ottawa isn't as bad as cities like toronto or montreal, but our crime and drug rate are extremely high, much more so than the average person thinks.

Yea there is a lot of crime and a LOT of drugs (I regularly go out to the store or whatever at 2-5am, and it's crack head central, hah, though they all leave me alone). That said, this happens every night but I've NEVER seen chaos like this time. There are always cops as well but never like this.

Seriuosly though, whilst doing my thing there last week a guy called me a slut. It sucked.
