I seek assistance with a purchase. Are you the type of person who enjoys dispensing advice? If so, read on.

2. Current ride is borrowed. I want to level up and have my own respectable ride.
3. Have been shopping about a year. Been looking on Craigslist and shit, decided to go to shops.

Like 5 people in the DDI crowd have the Flite 220 and are very happy with it. Reed did a ton of research on it and concluded it was the best bike at that price. Plus that new baby blue color is bomb. I would have gotten that one if I wanted drop bars -- but I don't like them so I ended up getting a different bike, a hybrid. If you're looking for flat bars too maybe it isn't the right bike for you? They have them at Pedal Revolution; highly recommend going there there and doing a test ride.

Dunno a thing about the Bianchi.

I test rode them both, on different days, and they rode pretty well. The flat bars were more comfortable, but I wondered if the drop bars would eventually be a better choice and make me more aerodynamic and thus faster.

I hear you get used to drop bars within a couple of weeks. I also know that they're less maneuverable, and maneuverability is important in city riding. I think the speed thing is only really important if you're planning on racing or doing some serious hardcore cycling. I personally don't actually like going super fast, so it wasn't even a consideration for me. :P But almost all my friends have drop bars and swear by them, so who knows.

Sounds like the KHS Flite is the better choice of the two for commuting rides. The drop bars should make it more comfortable to ride in the long term. Being able to carry it is a big plus.

You should seek out the advice of gnat23. Tell her sjp sent you.

I like the Flight 220, the drop bars are easy to get used to, in fact being in the drops is my fav position for my hands. Being able to carry it up the civic center is essential! I love the colour too, white seat with white handle bars = awesome. And yes, road bike do go faster. I love my road bike and wouldn't trade it for a mountain bike to save my life.
