The problem with blogging is it can make you sound like a trivial, self-important dork, even though you just want to have fun and make people laugh and get some info.
if you are ever in LA, you need to walk along the LA river from about glendale, down to atwater village. it's almost a work of art, nature vs. the shopping carts decomposing at various stages in the river. it's the most urbanized version of nature i've ever seen, including the "river" which is a concrete bed full of water.
I didn't pick you as being someone who would be concerned with such an issue.
I have some friends on lj who are definitely self centered and never talk about anything which isn't about themselves, but I have plenty of other friends where who actually invite you into their blogging conversation and welcome feedback and dialogue.
Well, you know...sometimes I like to spout off half-baked ideas. And that's fine, but I also don't know if it's clear that I'm not assuming any expertise by doing it.
You don't need to wrap a disclaimer around everything, especially on lj.
I also suspect that you're someone like Icka who uses lj more for reading other people's journals put making announcements; you keep your friends in touch by actually seeing them in real life (imagine that!)
oh v, i must disagree. blogging can be for many things. i use my journal as a journal for myself. i let others read it because they seem to want to, although i have no idea why anyone would want to read my jumbled up thoughts.
i however enjoy reading others journals, however they choose to present themselves in LJ land. each and every one of my friends on here has a clear and distinct voice that is evident through their style of posting. it's so funny, i can almost always hear them when i read their blogs.
Yeah. Mine is not for any particular purpose. I'm just kinda hanging around, making jokes, inviting people to parties, and sometimes I like to analyze stuff. And occasionally I read back and think, "did I really tell everyone about the pink dildo in my medicine cabinet?" And that's a weird feeling.
