Have you looked in your freezer lately? You can't keep things in there indefinitely. I just found this out.

I had a pound of ground turkey that I'd had in my freezer for 2.5 years. I kid you not. It moved to two new apartments with me. I think at some point it stopped being a foodstuff and became in-freezer furniture.

I eventually threw it out, mostly because I was starting to worry that I'd accidentally eat it one day.

I also had a side of beef that had been there for two years. It's gone now too.

fwiw, that looks like the freezer life for a auto-defrosting freezer.
manual defrosting freezers will have a longer frozen life.
(not that I've been able to find a handy table of such info.)
