Agreed: Scotty's robot was a lame Star Wars wannabe. WTF was up with that? It was a cross between R2 and a Jawa. Just wrong, especially when it showed up on the Enterprise at the end.
I had another thought. Why would a Romulan choose a human emperor's name??? *handwave* And will Kirk have a son in this reality? Can we please not kill him off immediately this time??
Also, some critics were complaining that we didn't hear The Theme before the ending credits, but I thought it was perfect timing: the crew wasn't The Crew we know and love with everybody in their proper place until the end of the movie, so it made perfect sense to me.
Is it odd that I've always thought of the theme as being for the ship, not the crew. As that famous voice-over says: These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise...
