Well, yeah, we'd have to have tons of safety features. I mean, I'm thinking paintball guns, biometric locks, all sorts of stuff. Do you have any ideas? 'Cause the more heads we have together on this, the better I think it'll be. Since the last thing I think we all want is random rampaging chaos.

Terrible idea. In case you haven't noticed, whatever can go wrong does. Put all the safeguards you like down, someone will get the guns out.

Yeah, fair point in this place.

So what if they turn into paintball guns the minute they leave the room? Not much damage you can do with those, even though they do sting.

What if they start out as paintball guns and never change?

If they're weighted and shaped the same as normal guns, that could work. I know it throws some people off when there's a big ol' tank on top of their weapon.

I don't like guns too much either, and safety concerns are the exact reason I started this post. Like I suggested to Spike, what if the weapons become paintball guns the minute they leave the range? Or simply disappear? I know this place doesn't have an awesome record for safety and things going exactly as planned, but we're all reasonably smart people, I'm sure we can think of a way to get practice in without...you know...fear of an inmate rampage.

Or, here's a thought - what about biometric locks on the range as well as items? Yeah, I get that those can be tricked too, but not too easily.

Or maybe it'll be BYO-gun? Like I said, I just wanted to get this idea out on the table.

Oh yeah. Mind control. Super...

But if there is such a flood or something, or someone gets their hands on a weapon they're not supposed to have anyway...it seems like there's already a whole bunch of possible problems without a range existing in the first place. This place isn't exactly Happy Fun Safe Land to begin with, and I don't see how making sure there's a place to practice would make it any less safe here. I mean, we all saw what happened with the nanomites. Things are going to happen anyway, so I think we should at least be prepared.

I've been shooting in the CES occasionally, and Rayne says she sets up her own targets on the top deck. I was just thinking of a dedicated place to do the practicing so people don't accidentally get hurt/freaked out by stray gunfire.

Already use my own on the top deck. Nobody's around and I rig up my own targets.

I've been shooting at trees in the CES. I stopped, though, 'cause if someone walked in without my knowledge I could hurt them by accident...

Hence, my choosing somewhere deserted.

Obviously I think it's a good idea. Poor trees in the CES and our poor ears.

Even if the range doesn't pan out, I'm still going to request some eye and ear protection for us. The giant orange earmuffs look a little goofy but they protect from shattered eardrums, so.

That will be something. I still don't like the idea of accidents.

Yeah, neither do I.
