Last weekend my mom called to tell me that my Grandma in LA is starting hospice care. They discovered a tumour in her lung about 6 months ago and it has been getting harder for her to breathe. They think it is cancerous (she smoked for years but quit when I was a kid), but she is too frail for chemotherapy and her attitude is that if they arent't

Ugh, seems like 2008 is the year for grandparents of LJ friends to pass away. Sorry to hear things are not going well, but also good there are no surprises. Very cool how our grandma was there for you and Erik.

Thanks. She is a strong lady and seems to be taking this well. I only hope her time left is happy and pain free.

My mom is going through the same thing with her mom who just turned 97 last month. Just remember... they have had a long and fabulous life, and they are probaly about ready to see what the next phase is all about.
