That video of Guthrie Govan that Jessie posted is sweet. Goddamn that man is versatile. Here's a clip of my personal guitar hero, Paul Gilbert, playing the title track off his latest release, "Get Out of My Yard"

I fucking love Paul, he's one of my heroes as well. Plus his instructional videos and website are campy as all hell. What a genius. He's like a big kid who happens to be one of the world's finest guitarists. Incredible video!!

Is this the 'impossible lick' that he intros "Get Out of My Yard" with? Sad to say, I don't have the album yet. =(

Yup, it is. I don't have the album either..it's on the list, along with Erotic Cakes. And the videos..oh man. Intense Rock 1 and 2 are together on DVD now, and so is all this Gambale stuff I really want. Have you seen any of the Gambale vids?

Alas, I have no Frank Gambale instructional vids, but the clips I've seen on YouTube are amazing. I've always loved sweeping as an improvisational tool, and Frank is on another planet in that regard. Plus, of all the 'shredders', I'd say he's one of the most sophisticated from a harmony standpoint. Oh yeah, did you know I have an Allan Holdsworth REH instructional video from 1992? It's RIDICULOUS!! I got it on Ebay a few years back, and it's easily one of the best purchases I've ever made. You should come over and check it out sometime, man!
