Oh, crap. (The situation, not the story) And Ritsuka probably WOULD react like this. He's so protective of his mother.

Yeah, it was interesting, trying to keep pissykitty!Ritsuka in character. Because he's more than pissy here, he's enraged. I was thinking of the scene in the anime canon with the strawberry jam. Only there, he's angry on Yuiko's behalf. You rarely see him self righteously angry on his own behalf (which he well should be...!) He tends to retreat into himself/blame himself instead. But since Misaki was being threatened as well, you can see how that would have set him off. Poor baby kitty. *snuggles him*

Thanks for reading, sweetie! ^_^

He is very much in character here. I'm glad to see him protecting himself, though he started all this out of concern to protect his mother--I got the impression his subconscious is working at this point, letting out the self-preservation and personal fears he usually keeps tightly bottled up to keep some kind of control over his life. Damn, poor kid indeed.

Re: social services, would be interesting to know what their equivalent is like. I can't imagine it being worse than ours, unless it's even more understaffed. There are good foster families out there, but there's so many more kids than good foster families--and so little money for the whole system...

One of my good friends is a foster mom, and I mean, it's just awful what kind of stuff goes on. And Massachusetts is supposedly the best in the country! She gets paid pennies, and they try to give her more and more kids, like, "hey, can you take two? how about three?" I can't believe she's able to do what she does, honestly. Having those precious little babies for maybe six months, bonding with them and nurturing them, and then having to give them up to go live in rehab with their troubled mothers, and never, ever finding out what happened to them. I'd slit my wrists, I swear ( ... )

Thanks. Yeah, I have friends who work for DSS, and the stuff you hear is just heartbreaking. Never mind the fact that our state is supposed to be the best in the country (Massachusetts). If this is the best, I don't want to see the worst.

the way he needs help but can only find it in Soubi

Yes! Yes. That's it exactly. Poor precious. *cries*

Thanks for reading, honey! ^_^

*smiles* Yes, I'm fond of what they call the "big zaaa" in manga: dramatic entrances get the sound of effect "zaaaaaaaaaa!" What's funny is that people tell me I have that IRL. They say, "You walked in, and everyone's heads turned, and they were all like, 'Who's THAT?'" My reply is, "I can't help it if I'm like, zaaaaaaaa!" *giggles*

Thanks for reading! ^_^

Yay for p_g fic!

This was really good. I had to chuckle a bit at Soubi's immediate willingness to kill Jiro; that's SO Soubi when it comes to Ritsuka ("You upset Ritsuka; I kill you now").

Looking forward to more, if that pesky RL permits.

Is that Kimbley in your icon??? Please don't tell me you are going to give up on RoyxEd and start shipping ArcherxKimbley, because I will have to drive all the way out to Pennsyltucky in my car that I can't afford and beat you senseless with my copy of FMA vol 15. Just saying. *is resolute*

Anyway, thank you! Yes, Soubi is amusing in that way. I kept thinking I should leave that out, that maybe it was overkill, but he was very insistent. Very protective, our Soubi.

-fish gapey sounds-

Oh, this hurts. In such a good way. You've got the characters down completely; That is exactly how I would imagin Ritsuka would act, and then Soubi to the rescue! And then the crying and the hugging and they angst and the love. I love you, and this, and all of it. Great job!
