She's an icon. Funny, infuriating...it's about time. Can't wait to see this new documentary though I of course do not have HBO. But it will be out eventually. I read everything I could find by her back the days when I did not know she was a lesbian. But then I didn't know that I was either.
When DP is out of town, I always bring out the oldie but goodie recipes that she doesn't appreciate as much as I do. They're perfect for one person who doesn't mind a little cooking, but different from the fish veg or egg veg menus she prefers. ( Read more... )
I just had to add this video, which I found particularly moving. We hear much more about gay Christians but here are some eloquent stories from gay men from Orthodox Jewish communities. Sometimes they try the reparative therapy route? I thought that was an exclusively Christian thing but that shows you how little I know

I've been thinking about the lovely, supportive post by Sara Ramirez (shared in Callie_Erica), written in response to the teens who committed suicide after being bullied. Also saw a video by another straight-but-not-narrow, Rosie Diaz. We're hearing about six recent suicides, and perhaps this is encouraging other families and friends to speak out
