On a day like today, it sure is nice to be the wife of a tattoo artist and have your only local friend be the piercing queen. ;-) I am a spur-of-the moment proud new owner of a shiny spike directly through my left nipple. I can NOT believe I did it. M asked if I intend to the get the right one done as well and I said "Of course, but I didn't ( Read more... )

Ouch!!! You are far braver than I am. I might get some more holes in my ears, but I think that's the limit of my pain threshold.

The way I look at it is, a piercing only takes seconds and then the pain is basically over. A tattoo takes anywhere from half an hour to multiple hours, and that shit hurts the entire time you're being tattooed. So at least this way it's over quickly. ;-) And, I've heard over and again how much I'm going to like it when it's healed... so we shall see.

YOWOOOOCH! Good for you though. I've never been brave enough to pierce anything.

Not even your ears?

While I guess I do have more piercings than a lot of people, I really don't have all that many. Aside from the total of 16 between both my ears (including my tagus, that little flap of cartilege that covers the ear canal), I just have my bellybutton, my tongue and now both of the my nipples. I was really concerned about what if I have a baby, because I would like to at least try nursing, but Erin (my friend & the piercer) has had each one done twice and she has no problems nursing her new baby, so that set my mind at ease. =)

Yeah, my ears are pierced, each about 4 times... not that I ever wear anything in them anymore, it doesn't work with the job I have (conservative rich people, argh). Honestly it's not so much the pain of the piercing itself that scares me away from non-ear piercings, it's knowing how clumsy I am and how often I'd get them caught on clothing, bumped, etc.
I'd love a navel piercing but my stomach was ruined by Emma, between stretch marks and scars and residual flabbiness, and I doubt I'll ever show it in the light of day again. Not that I ever did before.

You know - I think you hit the nail RIGHT on the head there. I used to be a wild girl, and I think I miss that. I haven't had anything pierced since my tongue, and that was seven years ago, and I think part of the reason why I wanted to do it is because I wanted to feel young and wild again.

Thanks! Can I ask, do you have any? I've got bunches in my ears (including my tragus), my bellybutton, my tongue and now both of the girls. ;-) I'd like to get a labret (LOL, M always accidentally tells people I want to get my labia pierced - uh, no - pretty big difference there!) but before I get anything else on my face I better get a job FIRST and make sure it's cool if I do. =)

all i have are the two holes in my ears and the one in my nose (done twoish weeks ago) - you've got me beat by quite a bit. :) i say this now, they're all i want, but i bet you that in five years, that'll be a different tune...

i'm lucky in that my job regularly accepts people with multiple piercings and to an extent celebrates them. by their standards i'm tame, but that's ok with me. :)
