Rachel, General Quarters, the Oaks, and the Derby! Oh my!
This weekend looks to be pretty dang awesome! :D
Tomorrow kicks off with the La Troienne at 12:26 CST. Rachel Alexandra is back and will hopefully redeem herself against Zardana. Racing recap
As has been remarked elsewhere, the Apple Blossom went from being the race of the year to a bit of a farce. Zenyatta was as lovely as ever, but those poor fillies she walloped yesterday were just nowhere near G1 caliber. Crankiness about Rachel and Zenyatta's connections
Yeah, so it's only taken me a week to weigh in on last week's races. Can I say again how tired I am of the vitriol being spewed about how Rachel is a hack? It's funny, but I feel like I'm rooting for an underdog these days. Hate the connections, not the horse. She's got just as much talent as Zenyatta. Finally found Monastic Springs!
Yay! The webmaster at Haras Gran Derby sent me an email out of the blue to let me know he had updated the website for the farm, and it included Monastic Springs! HUZZAH!!! At last I know where he is and that he's safe and being well-cared for. He looks phenomonal ( Read more... ) -
Things I would like to see
This is really mostly just a note-to-self so I don't lose this link, but it's too cool not to share, too. anniemare linked me to this page, and someday, I would really love to see these sculptures in person. They are utterly fabulous (the animals, anyway. I can take or leave the people). :D -
It just occurred to me...
...that Zenyatta now holds the record for North America's richest mare. Her win yesterday put her $1.4 million over Azeri's record. I'm glad it was Z who did it and not Ashado.
