I was indirectly pointed to this by a post on facebook, and I find it interesting. I'm a little hesitant about it, as I've seen it on many "new-agey" websites. Not that these sites might not hold Truth as well - it's just sometimes some of them don't seem to use a lot of discernment, or take things out of their original contexts in ways which ( Read more... )

Something I particularly like here - I've often used the imagery of keeping oneself afloat and working with a river that may sometimes feel raging to illustrate ideas of mine regarding the combination of will and surrender. I find that echoed here, yet juxtaposed with the idea of celebration (rather than the struggle I sometimes make it into)

I'd like to hear that sometime! I'm not remembering you singing it.

What - we can get in a boat? Dang - my image often has me swimming along in the river, though usually with a lifejacket or at least in a kayak. Probably says something about me... :-)

Or was that just the lone wolf in me that this talks about as well?

(I'll avoid being TOO geeky and speculating about comics from when I was a kid, when "Lone Wolf" joins the Legion of Super Heroes and becomes Timber Wolf... Though Lone Wolf is indeed another of my forms - and I also loved the "Lone Wolf and Cub" comics.)

The following link has some interesting thoughts about the attribution of the quote: http://www.jcrows.com/HopiElders.html.

However, the imagery is inspiring. It reminds me of a posting that I read once and have since lost that spoke of learning to successfully navigate the rapids of a river, of allowing the water to take you even though it seems to point you directly at the rocks, if you flow with the water, it will take you with along with it sliding safely around them. But, if you fight the flow of the water, you can end up cockeyed to the rocks and smashed against them.

Very interesting - thank you!

Sounds like my intuition regarding being careful about sources had some merit. Though I do find it really interesting to see an intersection of Bon, the Dalai Lama, and Hopi occurring in the page you link to. As well as the idea of purification (Kala?) appearing as well.

Not sure what to make of all of this, but it's fascinating watching how it all seems to intertwine some how (at least, for me, as well as other things you and I (Jenya, too) share in common).

Makes me even more interested to know more of the Kachina you got for me! Has the name returned to you?

Yes - what you speak of regarding the river is part of my analogy as well. If you fight the river, you can end up tumbled or smashed against the rocks. But if you work with the river, it will help guide you down safely. Cool stuff!

Questionable origins aside; the last line kills me every time i read it.

We are the ones We've been waiting for.

kills me ded.
It's really scary to realize that no one's going to come and save us or give us the answers, and it's even scarier to realize that we have all the things we need to save ourselves and learn the answers on our own.

Even in the context of the below - the possibilities still remain dizzying. We are the ones we've been waiting for, we are on our own, and we can STILL pull together if we wish ( ... )
