How many people actually believe in the superstitions that go along with it?

I think it's meant to be short for Hallow's eve. I don't know if the word itself actually means anything.

It's when people dress-up as things and go trick-or-treating. At least that's what most people know it as.

I was thinking of the ones with candles like, burning one on Halloween and then never burning it again.
