Thank you for posting this. It's interesting to get a perspective from outside the U.S., and nearer the part of the world where this crime happened.
I'm chilled by the actions of this guy. I do think he is sane, at least in the "aware of what he was doing" sense. And while I'm not sure the cells he describe exists, I don't think his actions happened in a void.
Does anyone know if the political conversation in Norway has been anywhere as polarized and shifted rightwards as it is in the U.S.? I've read a few news stories saying that he cited American right-wingers in his manifesto, but I have difficulty believing that the views of American Tea Partiers would have much impact in Norway if there wasn't something home-grown as well.
Norway, is way less extreme and less to the right politically, it's a quiet and small country with very little violence, this is why this tragedy is extra jarring. This is the biggest bloodshed since WWII for them.
He was affected by many right wing groups, American and European, as far as I understand it. Today these groups all claim that they've rejected him (yeah right..), but in the next sentence they affirm his twisted views and claim that our modern multicultural society is to blame for this, really. (don't you want to just shove them and Glenn Beck into a mixer and create this brew of pure moronic ass-juice?)
