Bring me the head of....

I've been inspired, and its time to get out the tools and get cracking. I read an article about a dummy with a sound level meter rigged up into it for testing the loudness of mp3 players and other ear-bud type listening devices. You know, the ones the "kids" use to listen to their "rock and roll". /cane-shake ( Read more... )

I would have to know what you are making first, Doctor Frankenstein. o.o

Its a head with a sound level meter inside it. I'll install an ear, probably silicone, and mount the microphone of the SLM inside the ear. This will approximate a human ear canal. Then we can let kids/adults put their earphones or earbuds on the head of the dummy, turn their ipod on and see just how loud they are listening to their music. Then we can tell them whether it is too loud or at a safe volume.

Thanks for explaining it again, looking back I can see how it all fits together.

A name, a name. Hmm. Never been good with names but I shall do my best to assist!

Wish I could think of some good hearing based puns or whatnot.

SLM, ehh? Slim perhaps? Audio, Audre perhaps? Hopefully less bombastic than that OTHER Audre. Or perhaps the other end of Audio, Dio? Oh Ronnie James, how you are missed.

I'll come back and add more as I think of them. Otherwise, I'm going to end up suggesting names like Frank or Bob.
