Sat in chair most of day instead of in bed. Nothing much new; standard ups and downs. Will probably get to walk tomorrow, and will probably leave the hospital next week. ( Lists... )

The true being the numbers there are a bit old... as of June(ADA Meeting) most are 40 point lower. But If she is around the old date that is GREAT! There is data showing normal(nondiabetic) BS can be a bit crazy when sick or hurt as the body try to heal itself. The big thing to watch is the lab tests and lower insulin needs. Home meters can be of up to 20% from hospital labs ... so better to look at them.
Inquiring minds want to know...duke_of_urlOctober 21 2005, 13:45:55 UTC
What is the range of blood glucose values for newly transplanted patients? For those same patients a few months after the surgery? Five years after?
Are you receiving supplemental insulin, or are your values entirely the result of your new pancreas?
If you no longer require supplemental insulin injections but must restrict your diet in order to maintain healthy numbers, will you be considered a non-diabetic (former diabetic)? Or is it like alcoholism -- once a diabetic, ALWAYS a diabetic?
Is it too early to tell how your GI system is reacting to the new organs?

Are you going to have your old pancreas bronzed?
