“So how’d you really find me?” Jared asks Steve as he walks into the kitchen pulling down his t-shirt.

Steve smiles, “High jacked your phone,” he tells him with a wave of his hand, like anyone could have done it.

“That wouldn’t tell you what apartment, dipshit,” Jared replies with a tolerate smile.

“Fine,” Steve scoffs, “I implanted a chip in you one of the nights we got drunk in college.”

“You did not,” Jared growls at him disbelievingly as he starts to pat his body, feeling for some kind of transmitter. He knows Steve could do something like that, but he doesn’t honestly believe he did. He just feels he should check, just in case. He stops searching when Steve and Jensen both burst out in fits of laughter. “You’re a bastard,” he tells Steve as he draws his eyes down to look pissed off. He only stops glaring when Jensen gives him a cup of coffee and kicks out a chair at the table.

“Thanks,” he mumbles. He knows Jensen likes him if the night before is anything to consider, but Jensen doesn’t so much as step into his personal bubble, let alone offer Jared the kiss that Jared really wants.

Jensen just waves at Jared, brushing off the gratitude and reaching for his keys, “I’ll be back in an hour,” he tells Jared as he walks over to the door and slips his shoes on, “Visit with your friend.” Jared doesn’t even get to tell him bye before he’s watching Jensen close the door behind him.

Jared just looks wearily down at his coffee, the sugar and milk already added. He wasn’t even aware that Jensen knew how he drank his coffee. That alone makes his lips form a small smile.

“What happened last night?” Steve asks his friend who is usually laughing and grinning, well before he met Jensen anyways.

Jared smiles, “Something good,” he answers Steve.

“Well, you’re sitting,” Steve observes, “So nothing too good I assume.”

“God,” Jared groans, “If he fucks like he sucks, I hope he throws me down on a flat surface soon.”

“Fuck, Jared!” Steve groans, “There is a reason I’m not gay.”

“Pushes me up against a wall,” Jared continues, ignoring his friend.

“Enough,” Steve groans, covering his ears until he hears Jared dissolve into giggles.

“You’re so fucking easy,” Jared says between huffs of breath.

“So says the guy that probably pushed his pants down when the opportunity arose,” Steve deadpans.

“For Jensen?” Jared looks over at his friend with the face of an innocent kid, “I’d so drop my pants.”

“That’s totally need to know,” Steve tells him with a smile, “and I don’t need to know.” Steve’s happy Jared seems to be over the last guy that fucked him and got him involved with the life as a secret agent, but he can’t help the nagging at the back of his head that it won’t last.

Hours later, Jensen pushes through the front door and only stops in the entry to the living room to see Jared stretched out on the couch and Steve reclining in the chair, watching TV before he heads through the hall to his room. He puts up the items he bought before sitting on his bed and trying to figure out what he’s doing. He had promised himself not to get involved with anyone again, especially not another agent, but then Jared came and threw his plan out of the window with a silly smile and his way to make Jensen feel safe while he sleeps.

“Hey,” Jared’s voice cuts into his thoughts and has Jensen looking up from the carpet and seeing the younger man. “Steve and I are going to head out,” Jared informs him, still standing in the hall, his head and left hand the only body parts of Jared in the room.

Jensen nods and looks back at the carpet, wondering if Went would give him something to knock him out. He’s tired of not sleeping, and with Jared not living with him anymore, maybe he should finally give in and take the pills that Went is always offering to get him.

“Jen?” Jared questions. He doesn’t like the way Jensen is acting. He doesn’t like how the man looks defeated. Jensen should never look defeated. When he gets no answer, Jared crosses the room and kneels in front of the older man, placing his hands on Jensen’s legs like the shorter man did to him earlier. “What’s wrong Jen?” He asks, whispering his concerns to the other man, smiling faintly when Jensen’s eyes meet his.

“Stay?” Jensen questions, his hand curving around Jared’s neck, his forehead touching Jared before he tilts his head a little and places a chaste kiss to Jared’s lips.

“Are you sure?” Jared questions, his eyes still closed and his spine still tingling from the small kiss.

“Yes,” Jensen mumbles, not removing his head from Jared’s, his breath fluttering over Jared’s lips, “And not because you help me sleep,” he whispers, “I just want you here with me.”

“Let me go tell Steve,” Jared tells Jensen, reassuring him that he’s not going anywhere. “You look tired,” he says as an after thought, “Get ready for bed, and I’ll be back in a minute and we can sleep.” Jensen hums, kisses Jared once more, and begins to unbutton his pants so he can slip under the covers with the promise of a nights sleep. Jared watches for a few seconds before leaving the room to tell Steve that he’s staying.
