Does anyone out there have a Not the Yule Ball ticket to sell? If so: I'll buy it!

I know this post is a very, very late request, but if anyone out there has a Not the Yule Ball ticket to sell I am more than willing to purchase it. Since I hail from a country (the U.S.A.) that takes more than four months to process ( Read more... )

Oh I LOVE YOU! Even if this doesn't pan out. . . newblksusan July 17 2007, 23:29:28 UTC
Yes, I love everyone and anyone who gives me a reason to hope or be optimistic!

I'll arrive on Thursday and have every intention of attending the opening events. Also, I'm presenting a paper at 11 a.m. in one of the classrooms so maybe we can meet up at that time? Just let me know. I'm also staying at the Queens Crystal Palace hotel in South London. I understand (based on Internet reviews) that it's not exactly the best hotel around, which means I'll have an added incentive to hang out moreso at the conference than at the hotel! LOL!

Thanks again for even considering my request!

Perhaps I can run into you or Gingergirl1977 there. Thanks again for offering to help me out. Since I must return to the U.S. Sunday morning I was hoping to attend the big event on Saturday night before I fly back home.

Passports have been taking extra long this time around because it's now required for travel to the Caribbean and Canada, which it wasn't before. So you've got all these new travelers needing passports at the same time (including you, apparently).

I know, but. . . newblksusan July 17 2007, 23:25:35 UTC
I understand that's one of the reasons for the backlog, but wouldn't it have nice if the U.S. Department of State had anticipated the increased demand for the passports so as to deal with the overload?

Well, if nothing else, the situation forced me to become acquainted with my Congressman & his staff(and I understand all politicians, across the country, have been inundated with complaints and requests like mine. I may have received a bit of extra attention for my situation if only because the English & Linguistics department alerted him to the fact that I was scheduled to present a paper at the conference. But hey --- I'm not complaining. All I know is that the university contacted faxed a letter on the Monday before the July Fourth holiday and I received a call that Friday, telling me I would receive my passport via Federal Express by the following Monday. But isn't it sad that anyone has to go through all that or have to have 1/4 of a year's time to get a passport?)
