Before next week is over, I think I'll seek out the spirit of healing magic at least and try to learn from them. With no way to replenish stocks of spells, I don't want to be caught flat-footed in an emergency. If anyone wants to come with me, I'd enjoy the company ( Read more... )

Seeking out Nala should be easy enough, but I would be glad to join you.

I'm also thinking of searching out one or two of the others, but I don't know which ones yet. Not having a set of reliable magics makes me nervous.

Hm...you don't have a particular affinity for any type of element? If that's the case, then perhaps the wind spirit Kipinn would be the next place to start. He's friendlier than some of the others and his magic is fairly easy to learn.

Contrary to some opinions, not really, though I have my spells I prefer for certain situations and spells I rarely use at all. But the normal Fire, Thunder, Ice seems to do so well in most cases. Kipinn sounds like a good idea to start with.

A swimsuit, for Selphie's party. I've never been very good at picking out clothes.

I can most definitely help with that. We can go to the clothing shop tomorrow and find you something perfect.

Wonderful! Just knock on my door or yell over the journal whenever you're ready to go.

[Celes definitely can use the practice, of probably most of the people here, she's likely the worst out of practice. She didn't have her own weapon here, she hadn't used it in a long time before coming, yeah, she could use someone to spar with, so a willing person is good]

You said you wished to have someone to spar with? I could use the practice myself if you don't mind.

[Quistis looks up at the new voice and blinks a little - right off the bat she can note more than a few similarities between herself and this new woman. Well, it wasn't as if she were the only blue-eyed blonde around to begin with, and she nods.]

Yes, if you want to - my name is Quistis Trepe. [She smiles.] I hope you don't mind that I use a whip for the most part.

[Yes, the similarity was interesting, but not too unusual, she'd already met others here who seemed to share some traits with her friends, it was bound to happen that she would meet one who looked like her.]

A pleasure to meet you. I'm Celes.

I don't mind that you use a whip, I can use a few different types of weapons but prefer blades. I'd be a poor soldier if I couldn't handle fighting against a whip.

[And she smiles at that reaction.] I usually don't hear that. But then it's not really a common weapon on my world, at least not any more.

[But if Celes was actually someone who knew how to fight against a whip, that would be even better for her. It would give her a challenge. She'd set it aside when she began her stretches; finishing them, she picks it up again and coils it properly, making sure to stay far away from Celes, and gives it a few cracks to loosen up those muscles as well. She's ready now.]

Yes, stocks. Where I'm from, if you're trained to do so, you can draw - essentially steal - the magic from monsters and other opponents to use yourself, storing the spells inside yourself. It has an advantage over other magic systems I've discovered here in that you don't have to use your own physical energy, but the downside is that there's a finite number you can hold and you constantly have to replenish them.

Hmm... I've never heard of that method, or anything similar to it. Does it work well? Is this formula a normal math or science equation or a physical object called a formula?

I know, I want to go look at it myself. I don't think I'll be able to get through, but I do want a closer look at it.
