I think it's perfectly reasonable to want some time to yourself once in a while.

I have a friend who's a first grade teacher, and, especially at the beginning of the school year, some of her kids called her "mom" and needed to hug her all the time just because they weren't used to being in school.

Aw. I don't think it's bad to want to take a trip, but obviously, not being a mother, I don't really know your situation. I think you should totally take up a little vacation or rest day. ;)
