i'm about 95% sure that i want to have surgery...i still waiver on a few things here and there, which are all pretty much my own hang ups.  i used to be very against surgery because i (like many people) assumed it to be the *easy way out* for a long time, but after knowing more and more people who have gone through it and researching it much more  ( Read more... )

I hope that whatever surgery you decide upon, you come out winning. You should check out "In Weigh Over My Head" blog. She had the VSG surgery about 6 months ago after struggling for years with binge/emotional eating. She's been quite successful so far and is so much happier than she had been before. Her blog is very encouraging because she went through so much before getting the surgery. It might help you make a final decision. Good luck, no matter what you choose! :)

I have been following your journal for years, but rarely post. So you don't know me and my opinion probably doesn't count for much, but I have read of your struggles, and the ups and downs, and all the heartache you have been through. I also have two very close friends who had the lap band surgery, and it was very successful for them. One of them though did stop working at it after a few years, due to other health problems. However, in the time that she worked at it, she lost a huge amount of weight and it totally changed her life and her outlook. It feels like you need something positive to work for, and this may be it. Just be sure that your healthcare providers are sure that it will be SAFE for you. Good luck with whatever you decide. You really do deserve good things to happen. You have been an inspiration to many of us.

Please, please....give us an update! I've been following you for years and I think that there are more people who empathize with your situation than are willing to admit it. So.... please let us know you're o.k....
