I saw a very strange Controller.Controller concert last night at Zaphod's here in Ottawa. Good club, decent size- lame fucking concert policy! I found the same thing for Clap Yer Hands...the show really felt like it had been cut off prematurely. the band seemed all awkward and apologetic about not doing another encore. They basically just covered "Helpless" which was mighty fine but then they just walked off. Then the music IMMEDIATELY started and we were like, "Oh. I see."

Nothing against DJs....they quite often save my life with a song....but I'd rather hear a good band play a good set, for sure.

Yeah Controller.Controller were so awkward because people were hollering for an encore and they were like "Sorry- we're not allowed". I hope it's better tonight at this other venue I am going to to see BLACK DICE.

agh - black dice! i'm so jealous. i heart so much their collab with wolf eyes.

and yea, although i had amazing times at zaphod's the one time i've been up to the Twa, my buddy mike told me that they ALWAYS kick off bands really early so that the jock types with the mesh trucker hats and polo tees can come and get their alt scene on.
