Someone I know was shortlisted for season 2 and it was a full-on pre-selection process timewise (during which, by his own accounts, he did very well - he's very outgoing and charismatic as well as a great cook, or so his family says) but as he got closer to the end, he was less and less keen on actually being selected because it would mean being away from his family for a serious amount of time. In the end, it sounds like he didn't make the cut so it was all moot. ^_^ (Hasn't made me any less interested in trying out his cooking though.)

Yes, the application terms said that you have to be prepared to spend up to seven months away from your normal life... Not to mention what might happen AFTER you appear on national TV... I'm following quite a few of the season 2 people on Twitter, and they seem to barely stay in the same city for a whole day following the series final. Not to mention, professional restaurant cooks do actually work 14-16 hour days, even without the media attention.

I will admit that's the part I'm least keen on, but everyone is so supportive of me doing this, I can't help but do my best.

Well, it's just the first audition so far, which is to go in with an already prepared dish. If I get through, then I have to cook that same dish within one hour (uwah).

People at work are already offering to pelt me with random ingredients when I come in... I'm kind of dreading coming into the office today, hahahahaha...
