"Sehun." A voice that Sehun had never heard for the past few days but has never forgotten all the same came from just outside the wooden front door. There was an impatient rapping at the said piece of wood, and there was no mistaking that the woman behind it is, yet again, outrageously drunk. At least that's the only reason Sehun knows of why she still comes home.

"My mom." Sehun jumped at the first bang on the door as she was continuously calling out for Sehun. They just finished having dinner, Kai had cooked a really good meal that Sehun claimed to be the best one yet. Even though he actually says it all the time. He gave Kai an anxious look and Kai mirrored him. They were worried for different reasons.

"My mom." Sehun repeated. "She can't know you're here. She's drunk. And..." Sehun was cut by his mother's screams at the door. She was now calling him foul names and Kai looked anxiously at Sehun. The part about him being there didn't worry him. It's the part where Sehun would have to deal with his mother at this time of the night that does.

"It's ok. I don't think-" Kai was cut yet again by another yell from Sehun's mother. He caught the name she had called him. It was nothing one will feel great about.

"I need to get her." Sehun said calmly yet stiffly. Kai nodded once, seeing the change in Sehun's expression. His eyes darkened, and his lips were pursed tightly as if trying very hard to keep himself emotionless.

"I'll just stay in the room. Call me if you need help." Kai gripped his arm once and went to their room to stay away from his friend's drunk mom. He knew it wasn't gonna be a smooth night. Not when he had heard how much Sehun is desperate for his mom in his sleep. Not when he knew he wants her so bad, and he was certain that it's not in this form.

Sehun grabbed the door handle immediately. For a second or two he felt a sudden joy for hearing from his mom after a while. The happiness instantly vanished when he opened the door. Always the same thing.

"Irresponsible kid." His mother uttered the moment she saw Sehun. He took it as a form of greeting.

"Mom, you're drunk again." He ushered her inside, slinging her arm around his shoulders to support her. His mother swayed uncontrollably dragging Sehun with her in all directions. "You should go to bed."

He had managed to bring her in her room. He had calmed her a little after she had practically yelled his head off. Sehun brought her water, wiped off her face with a cold damped towel to sober her a bit. He had to endure most of her insults and false accusations at Sehun who was just very used to it.

"Useless son." She grimaced with her eyes closed, an annoyed expression on her face. Sehun fanned her for a little while more until he finally heard her steady breathing. She had fallen asleep. And after all that, that's the last time he'd be seeing her for the next few days, or weeks, or even months. When he wakes up again tomorrow, she'll be gone with a little note that says 'Just eat your breakfast' Which he would still have to make for himself. Despite everything, Sehun still believes in his mom. She would regularly send him money to comply with all the things he needs. She did call him once too, even though she did it for the reason of reminding him to just call her in case of emergency. He still believes that deep down there, his mother cared for him. After all, he was her son. There was nothing wrong in believing. He sighed heavily as he crouched on the floor beside his mom's bed.

He had always been unwanted. What could he do? He wasn't a product of love. He was a product of lust, of disgrace, an accident, a product of a memory his mother would rather bury deep into the earth by wasting herself with alcohol every night. What could he do? His mother is probably in pain every time she sees him, every time she's reminded by him. They're probably experiencing the same intensity of the pain, or maybe much worse for her. Sehun forced himself to understand that. But all the time, all the time he tried, he just feels depression creeping up on his skin, eating him like wildfire. It swallows the whole of him and everything around him just turns dark.

There's only him.
His life has nothing ahead of it.
There's only him.
He had no purpose of living.

He didn't want to go back to his bedroom to see Kai. He couldn't face anyone. He loses himself everytime his mother comes home. He cries himself to sleep with his mother's words echoing inside his head. He gets woken up by the same words, all of them, the only words Sehun had been living with for the past years. And now, how was he going to show himself to Kai? He can't look at him without crying.

He rashly wiped the side of his face as tears uncontrollably rolled down his cheeks. He stayed there for more than an hour, sulking and crying his eyes out. Kai should be sleeping by now, it would be easier for him to sneak into his bed without having to answer his roommate's concerned questions.

He rubbed his eyes which were now swollen and red. As he entered the room, he found Kai sitting on the edge of the bed. He was staring at his feet, gritting his teeth, and the worry in his face was more evident than ever. The shadow Sehun cast in the room alerted Kai and he immediately looked up. Sehun bit his lip and looked away as he went straight to the bed, his head bowed down.

"Sehun." Kai caught him by the arm, his tone was down. His face was full of concern but Sehun can't bear to look at him as he started to feel a prick on his eyes again.

"I wanted to go to you." There was a tone of resentment in his voice, as if he's been blaming himself for something. "I wanted to comfort you." His grip tightened on his arm. Sehun's eyes began to water and he tried to blink them back, only to have them rolling down his face.

"I wanted to be beside you." Kai looked so bad, as if he's been waiting for Sehun for the whole time he stayed up at his mom's room. As if he wanted to run to him but was helpless and can't do anything. "But I couldn't see you."

Sehun unconsciously let out a sob. Kai pulled him immediately and caught him into a very tight hug.

"It scared me." He started as Sehun buried his face onto his shoulders. "I went to the room. It scared me because I can't find you. You weren't there. Nor... her." He avoided talking about her. His voice slightly wavered. He didn't know what he exactly felt when he came into the other bedroom to find it empty. To find it the way he had left it empty. To find it as part of his world, not Sehun's. "I couldn't see you. I thought... I thought I lost your world."

Kai tightened the hug and felt Sehun sob more onto his shoulders. He knew he probably wasn't getting all of what he was saying into his head. Sehun was there, just hurting. All the hurt in his dreams coming to life in front of his eyes. Kai's hand snaked up to the back of Sehun's head. He patted it gently, his other arm wrapped tightly around his waist. Sehun gripped the sides of Kai's shirt, all the thought of not crying in front of him forgotten. He had always endured it alone all his life. But there is Kai, giving him a shoulder to help himself get up after a real nightmare.

Tears gushed out of his eyes like water as Kai whispered don't cry's into his ear.

A few minutes later, they broke apart. Sehun's shoulders were still shaking slightly and his breath was involuntarily hitching from crying too much. Kai reached for his face and rubbed a thumb under his eyes.

"Don't cry anymore." He whispered again. Sehun closed his eyes at the touch.

They stayed there a little while more facing each other, mirroring each one's sadness when Kai gently cupped his face. Sehun's face was in too much pain that it showed in every detail of his face. The corners of his eyes looked as if they won't be able to hold any more tears. Sehun looked down, heaving out the heaviest sobs he can no longer control.

Kai advanced onto him, closer until he can see the dry and fresh traces of tears on his face. He brought his face closer to his while still holding him. Closer, closer... so close that Sehun closed his eyes as he waited for the moment. Kai's gentle lips landed on his left eye. Sehun shuddered at the soft weight behind his swollen eyes. He felt it leave his eye to feel it again on the other. A crease on his forehead appeared as he tried his best not to sob again. Kai was trying to drive the pain away by his warm soft lips.

Kai knew there are too many words to be said at this moment, why he felt this way towards him, how he actually feels about him, how Sehun should not be scared of being alone anymore, how Sehun should not stop his own feelings. But those words were going to be meaningless uttered anyway, given that they're in a complicated situation being in two different worlds. Those words would need a clear explanation. But what he's about to do can say much more things. Much much more.

Sehun prayed behind his closed lids, he was feeling something else than just depression. It was a stronger one, so strong he closed his eyes hard the moment he felt Kai's breath hovering his face. His lips slowly touched his nose, his cheek, the other one, his chin, gently they covered every part of his face. Kai came to a pause as he reached the only part he had missed. Sehun waited, feeling his legs going weak. Kai carefully kissed the skin just above his lips. Sehun pursed his lips tightly to a close and relaxed again as he felt Kai lift his face from his. The latter's thumb brushed lightly over his cheek as he felt his breath again before his slightly parted lips. Soon enough, he felt the solid warmth of Kai's pair of lips onto his. At first he considered keeping still, as Kai held him steady, not putting any pressure between their skin in contact. However, slowly as Sehun lost count of how long they've been standing there in his head, Kai rested his hand onto the back of Sehun's head and pulled him gently towards him. The younger felt the push of his lips to Kai's in which Kai met, slightly moving in slow motion. Sehun responded the moment he had kept up and tilted his head to let his lips mold with Kai's perfectly. They continued standing there, not breaking their sweet kiss, while Sehun wrapped his arms around Kai's neck as Kai's hands snaked down to his waist, pulling him closer until it was impossible for them to move any closer. Kai caught Sehun's bottom lip and nipped at it gently, earning a muffled moan from Sehun. They moved together harmoniously as if they've been directed properly to do it, filling the gaps with honest yearning lips. Soon, their tongues were dancing together, Kai occasionally licking Sehun's bottom lip when he had the chance to. Sehun's breath hitched as Kai sucked mildly on his tongue, his lips closing in on his warm wonderful skilled one.

When they broke apart, Sehun had to clutch Kai's arm for support as he recovered oxygen to his body. Kai watched him with affection and took his hands into him, pulling him to the bed. Before they both collapsed on the soft foam in the middle of the room, they had reunited by the lips. This time, there was more pressure between them but Kai made sure he didn't hurt him in any way. Sehun's head met the pillow with a soft drop after Kai laid him down, pushing him with his own body down to their shared bed.

They moved together in harmony under the dull moonlight passing through Sehun's window. The kiss being the drive that washed away all of Sehun's pain. His sadness was replaced by a stronger feeling that drove him to the edge, a tug on his whole body, a tug on his racing heart. The feeling of lying down there with the feel of Kai's gentle hands on his bare back, and his comforting lips pressed onto his, their noses touching at different times, Kai enveloping him with his welcoming arms, Sehun holding onto him as if he will never let go, and Kai's silhouette hovering above him beneath the moonlight. Sehun wanted to remember them all. And if it was even allowed, hold it there for forever.

They eventually fell asleep together after a whole night of kissing. Kai didn't want to bring it farther for he feared what the consequences might be. Sehun knew it was the reason why Kai suddenly stopped after he had undressed the younger halfway up there. Nevertheless, he was thankful. He had never felt a hundred emotions in one, never until now. He felt Kai's hand snake up from his waist to his stomach from behind and locked itself there. Kai moved closer until he was just inches away from Sehun's perfect milky back. He kissed his shoulder once, and Sehun closed his eyes. Together, they drifted off to dreamland.

Sehun was right again the next day. His mother left without waking him up and he found a note on the counter that said "Get your own breakfast." Normally, he'd have no appetite for breakfast after a night of crying. However, that day was different. Sehun dropped the piece of paper in the bin, and looked inside the fridge. He couldn't help a smile escaping his lips as he looked at the menu for the day.

"I'll do the cooking, go do something else." The voice just behind him made his heart leap. He counted for three seconds before turning around to face Kai, his hair disheveled and sticking out everywhere but Sehun found it adorable.

"I can do the cooking." He tried to act naturally but it was impossible to stop the smile breaking out onto his face, accompanied by a deep blush that he's not going to get used to anytime soon.

"Just go." Kai pulled him lightly away from the fridge, the other can't seem to take away the smile on his face as well.

"Fine." Sehun stepped aside to let Kai have his way. He bit his bottom lip to calm himself a bit from Kai's little gesture of holding his hand for a few seconds. Not wanting to disturb the busy body in front of him, he went to his room and busied himself over his favorite past time, sketching.

As days went by, Sehun realized how often he finds himself crouching beside his bed, his drawing materials sprawled onto the huge space in front of him, sketchpad in hand and his trustworthy pencil in another. Randomly, he had drawn bits of a brightly flaming sun, a quiet evening sky, a healthy calm blue sea and a green vast grassland. He had even drawn two conjoined planets in the galaxy and later on he realized what he was doing. He was trying to make sense of his situation with Kai. He wanted to picture if it's possible for two worlds to overlap. He had tried, but eventually he reached a conclusion. It doesn't really matter how their worlds overlapped, he's just thankful that they did. Beside him was a pile of crumpled underqualified sketches. He had been working on it for days, but he never seemed to feel satisfied. He hadn't really been successful in it as far as he remember, but from now on he'll just have to keep trying.

Aside from being busy over his improvisation of his drawing skill, he had been busy with Kai too. They spend most of their time together, if not all the time. He thinks the only time they separate is when they need to go to the shower. In which one time Kai just spoke his thoughts aloud about just going to the shower together. To this, he received a soft smack on the head from Sehun and a disapproving look, while the older just gave him a foolish grin.

"You rarely talk in your sleep now." Kai commented one morning at breakfast, watching a very sleepy Sehun rub his eyes open from having a tiring long night the previous night that had something to do with Kai. It was just another one of their kissing marathons.

"Do I still talk at all?" Sehun questioned, stopping the rubbing of his eyes as Kai offered him a bite of ham and egg toast and he obliged slightly opening his mouth to take a large bite anyway.

"Well yeah. Last night was the first again in a week." Kai brushed his thumb at the side of Sehun's mouth to remove the stain of dressing.

"Oh." Sehun swallowed guiltily. He never knew he still does, and he thought he'd gotten over those memories that haunted him in the past. Moreover, he felt more guilty calling Luhan's name while he laid next to Kai.

"Why the face?" The darker of the two asked as he busied himself watching Sehun take a second bite on his toast.

"Nothing." The other guy said. "I'm sorry that I still... call them out in my sleep." He finished with a gulp. Kai smiled in return.

"Actually, you were calling out a different name now." His smile became more evident as it reached his ears. Sehun paused as if to process what he had said and suddenly a blush tainted his face.

"Don't make up stories." Sehun stood and hazily pushed his plate with an unfinished toast. He had other things to do, like finish his draft. Kai let out a laugh and it rang in Sehun's ears like the sound of wonderful fireworks. Sehun rolled his eyes at him before smiling. He left the room to proceed to his final drafting, and Kai called out, "But you really did call my name. Thrice!"

Sehun let him hear the shutting of the door. Kai laughed.

It was one of those miraculous days when Kai's prayer was answered. They were both in the tub, the first time Sehun allowed Kai to join him in the shower. Sehun filled the tub with lukewarm water and he added enough soap in it until large fluffy foams formed on the surface of the water. They sat facing each other as they played with the tiny bubbles floating around them like little kids. Kai had a huge foam on his head, making him look like he has white hair. Later on he added a beard and jokingly made a sound "hohoho." Sehun splashed water on him, giggling and laughing at his special friend's silliness.

After a long while soaked in the tub, they came to discussing serious matters they haven't really talked about after the first few days after they met.

"Why can I see you? Why can I feel you like everyone else?" There was frustration in Sehun's quiet voice. Kai knew where it was coming from. He remained silent.

"If we were meant to meet each other like this then why would you have to be from another world? That's a lot of bullcrap." Sehun played with his own hands, collecting the white foam on his palm and washing it away with water, repeatedly.

Kai rested his hand on Sehun's knee. "I'm sorry."

Sehun immediately looked up at Kai.

"I didn't mean... It's not your fault." Sehun sounded apologetic this time. "It's not our fault. I just find it really unfair." He reached for Kai's hand and applied the white foam on his golden skin. Kai's palm closed in on his hand and tugged at it to signal him to come closer. Sehun moved towards him and turned his back on him, leaning on the hard nicely toned body of the older.

"The last time your mom was here," Kai started. "I was brought back to my own world. I was alone, there was no you." Sehun was lightly tracing his fingers on Kai's arms, listening. "It surprised me, I was scared."

Sehun turned to face him, Kai was scared. Of what? Of being alone? Or of losing him? He looked him in the eyes, he never knew he could scare him that way.

"I think it means we only exist together when there's only us together." Kai continued and frowned at his discovery. "It means only our worlds overlapped. Not the others, just ours."

"Then there'll only be us." Sehun told him. After all, he was used to being alone. To being by himself. But this time, it's not the same anymore. He's with Kai, along with that he needs nothing more.
