Okay. Honestly, I didn't vote coz I rarely watch anime anymore. Besides, I don't know the names of the new/hot seiyuu's and all.

Here's one suggestions I think you can consider. Instead of monthly (or weekly) why don't you change it per/season? Nominate at least 2-3 main seiyuu from each anime and made a pool so everyone can vote for their fav at each of the end seasons. If you want more flavor, add fav villain seiyuu category, or better yet, divided it into 3. Main, supporting & villain. Just a suggestions, though *runsaway*

Interesting idea. I suppose it would go by Japanese TV season? Or yearly/seasonal ( ... )

Actually, that was a good idea.
Having seiyuu of (season) could actually better.

Also, it would be nice if it have best main role, best supporting role, (even best cross-gender role) etc.
It's not that I don't care, sometimes I just forget to vote and then a week passed.

I do think it's partially because of the declining popularity of the LJ medium amongst seiyuu fans that the responses aren't so good anymore. But personally speaking, I've only voted a couple of times because there isn't really a theme to the Seiyuu of the Month poll and I really only have that same 2 or 3 seiyuu who are always my favorites. In that case it becomes rather strange to keep voting for the same person ( ... )

But if we shift things to a Best Of Season format, I don't think I can be the only one nominating.

I can't watch all the anime in a season and thus I can't know all the seiyuu. Especially new seiyuu. But the SotM poll usually relied on voters to name seiyuu anyway so it was never an issue.

I'm not even a mod here.

wait, am I a mod now? I only did the poll for the most part, not really doing any actual mod stuff.

I was imagining it to have the voters themselves nominating. And it'll require a bit more work, since the voters will have to substantiate with reasons for each nomination. There could be a few categories but people can just nominate those that they have someone in mind, and ignore the other categories.

There are probably a lot of details to iron out, such as how to pick winners and so on. If you feel that it's not worth the effort, then it's fine to just drop the poll entirely.

To be brutally honest, I've never understood the point of it. However, if the community is so quiet, I guess it might be nice to have a regular post like this poll pop up once in a while.

the point was years back this comm was larger and much more active.
everyone loved seiyuu and loved sharing things and talking about how much they loved seiyuu.

Someone proposed a seiyuu of the week poll and the winners would be the theme for sharing at the end. But that was just too crazy to keep up. It died within a year, I think.

I revived the poll as a monthly thing. Give the comm something to do. Liven up activity since sharing is way down. Monthly seemed a reasonable pace.
But over the years it seems to have declined. Much like LJ.

i think LJ is kinda dead now.. i still check it everyday, but it has like, only 1 or 2 posts a day (for mine anyway)

edited: ops. forgot to answer the question. erm, i think no one really votes anymore (inclding me.. sorry!!) so, i think we dun need it on monthly basis.. maybe like the 1st commenter said, make it per season.
